This is the younger version (by a couple years) of their establishment on Hopyard Rd. in Pleasanton. Easy access of I-680 at the Bollinger Canyon Road exit. Eastbound Bollinger to Alcosta Blvd. and in the shopping center right next to Long's Drugs.
This HopYard is the virtual twin of the establishment on Hopyard Road in Pleasanton. A little roomier. Better natural lighting. Great outdoor patio. They just celebrated their 10th year in business. Judging by the flow of patrons on a sunny Sunday afternoon, they seem to have a pretty healthy fan base. Plenty of beers to choose from; local, national and international. They even have Bud! Went through a pint each of the HopTown Red, North Scrimshaw and Smithwicks Irish Ale. Nice having so many choices. And the food menu is on par with the beer list. Had a Chicken Philly with coleslaw that fit the bill to a tee. Casual but efficient staff. Family friendly atmosphere. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Try the Hoptown IPA if you like hoppy beer. The best ipa around. Food is good pub grub. Nice atmosphere. Large selection of beer including seasonal sierra nevada bigfoot barleywine.

I find it somewhat remarkable that the only reviews of the San Ramon Hop Yard over the past several years are from my rather infrequent business trips to San Ramon. Well after a year and a half, I again returned to the Hop Yard on parts of two evenings last week. Each of two dinner companions and I were pleased with our food selections – there is a good variety of sandwiches, salads and pub grub. The beer selection is always great (although I felt there were a bit too many craft brewery lagers on at one time at the expense of other styles). What especially seems noteworthy is the fact that the Hop Yard offers a number of beers from brewpubs perhaps not often seen outside of their own establishments. On this visit, these included a stout and another offering from Black Diamond, a kolsch from Ross Valley, a hoppy concoction called Beerinator from Russian River, Snowshoe’s superb ESB, and others from Hoptown and EJ Phair.

I made a return visit to the Hop Yard last week on Tuesday's "Brewery Night" (featuring Rogue Ales). The taps literally change daily at this place as new beers replace those that have just been emptied. This day the draft choices included a few good but unremarkable imports, a pair of megalagers, a cider or two, and a wide range of craft beer selections. Hopheads and wheat beer fans were especially well considered with the draft options. Here is the rundown for that night: Rogue Brutal Bitter and Hazelnut Brown, Lagunitas IPA Maximus, Hoptown IPA and DU IPA, Mad River Jamaica IPA, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Redhook ESB, Anchor Wheat, Pyramid Hefeweizen and Apricot Ale, Abita Purple Haze, Hopyard Hefeweizen and Golden Haze (both made by Hoptown), Kelly Bros. Wheat, Bear Republic Hefeweizen and Red Rocket, Moonlight Lunatic Lager, Golden Pacific Hibernator Ale, Pale Ale and Golden Bear Lager. Good food, too....try the Baja swordfish tacos.

This is a correction to my previous review. The Hop yard can be found by taking the Bollinger Canyon exit off of I-680, and then heading eastbound. Directions and a map to both Hop Yard locations can be found at the website, along with a calendar indicating breweries featured during future Tuesday "Brewery Nights".

This place is worth finding. Like the original Hop Yard in nearby Pleasanton, there are about 30 taps, mostly devoted to well-chosen California and other West Coast craft beers. I made two visits during a recent business trip to San Ramon, the second visit during Tuesday "Brewery Night" when several beers from a particular brewery are featured with a pint glass to keep and a refill special after the initial purchase. Take the Bollinger Canyon exit off of I-510 and head east to either Market Place or Alcosta Avenue. Turn right and you will find the Hop Yard next to the drug store.

Good service and a great environment. The patio is excellent on warmer days. They have plenty of tv's to catch the days games. Great appetizers and their menu has plenty to choose from.

Every time I come in this place I feel like I'm at home. The selections are top notch. The best thing about this establishment is the service; these people really know their stuff! And what killer bar food! The burgers are excellent and so are the buffalo wings. My favorite in the Bay Area.

Join the Harvester Beer Club--Neat-o prizes. Bring your darts (no plastic machines here, pal). Lots of TVs with NFL ticket on Sundays. Eat out on the patio.
