Why would such a popular restaurant close? Business was booming! Their honey buns can't be found anywhere else!

sad to say this brew pub has closed.first part of 2003, some internal problems with corp, not the amount of business. All the equipment is still there waiting for some enterprising soul to come along.

We finally tried the restaurant about a month ago and it was the greatest. Now it is closed! What happened to such a popular restaurant?

Comments are a moot point for this establishment. I stopped last night to find the location closed and up for sale. I had heard the parent company had over extended and would be closing some of it's less profitable locations, so it wasn't too surprising.

Very limited beer selection. Decent food. Not bad overall for Knoxville, but I knocked each rating (except selection) down a notch because of Bow Morton's obvious pumping.

I wouldn't go here just for the beer. The beer selection was poor, but they did have a drinkable porter. The good of this place though was our bartender, James. He was very sociable, engaged us in good conversation and made our night enjoyable.

in comparison with the other knoxville offerings, hops has it all. though the food is certainly no culinary breakthrough, it is as good or better than any outback, chili's or similar establishment with like fare. not only does it have the charm of a brewpub, with gleaming brewvats glassed in the middle of the dining area, but the beer selection is truly their own, and changes according to the tastes of local feedback. the actual selection of brews, like their selection of foods, is somewhat limited, but is very consistent and remarkably fresh every time. some of what is lost in selection is made up for in quality. there is, after all, something to be said about sticking with the things you do right.

Beer was ok, but limited in variety. Service was very good, but prices are high for the selections available. Food was typical for brewpub and nothing stood out on menu.

The Tampa, Fla.-based chain recently opened this addition to the slowly growing Knoxville-area brewpub scene. With four non-changing basic styles for staples there isn't too much to get excited about here. There is a type of beer for just about everybody from the Clearwater Light to the porter-ish Hops Special Ale. Two variations of the regular beers and a 'Razzberry' tinted brew are listed on the menu card but aren't actually available often (if at all.) To their credit no beer is sold that they do not make on site. Good, if somewhat standard, pub food is served. Located in a busy and growing part of town like many Hops, it is a busy place but at least offers better-than-average brewpub beer much closer to a lot of K-towners.
