Avoid the Goose Island Beer Company on game day? I should be so lucky to have such a top-shelf beer establishment within steps of my beloved Yankee Stadium! Count your blessings....I'm sucking back Bud bottles while the denizens of Wrigleyville sip on such sumptuous offerings as Demolition, IPA, Dunkelwiezen, and Peres Jacques. We visited with a large group and the staff were more than accommodating and pleasant. I will definitely be back during my next swing through the Windy City.

The Summer Kolsh is excellent as is the 312 wheat beer. Go on a no-Cubs game day to avoid the crowds

I was in town for a Pirate-Cub game and had to stop. It was very busy, and we arrived late so we had to hurry through our lunch. I was able to throw down 2 IPA's and they were excellent. My wife had the Honker Ale and like it. I sampled my niece's Heffe-Weizen and it was very good. Next time I hope to stay longer.

Stopped in a couple of weeks ago for lunch, brews and Cubs/White Sox game. The game wasn't at Wrigley so it wasn't too busy. I started with the sampler. Honker was great, as was the IPA-both true to form. I also enjoyed the Nut brown Ale, but have had better. They were out of a couple of the 'standard' brews, but they had several seasonal ones including the Imperial IPA and Summertime. Both those were good as well.
As far as food goes, I had a buffalo burger. Very good.

Finally made it after all these years!I had the ESB and it was excellent.Oatmeal stout,IPA,and honkers are all high quality made beers. Not to crazy about the wheat. Bartender could have been a tiny bit social or maybe smiled once.Nice old gutted out brick building.Did not stay for food.Would like to come back and stay a while longer.

Of the beers I tried: Honkers Ale, very good, and the brown Ale was good as well. I wanted a Stout, but all that was available was from a bottle. What's the point of having a Stout at a microbrewery from a bottle? I could have that at any bar. Maybe it was not in season. I will return next time in Chicago. I would love to come here before or after a Cubs game.

This big city...and this the only microbrewery in Downtown Chicago???? Rock Bottom doesn't count becuase it's a chain. I can't beleive the lack of microbreweries! Yes, I know you have more in the suburbs, but damn!

Stopped for an early lunch on a Saturday. Not too many people there. I only tried one beer. The Honker's Ale was excellent, very fresh and flavorful. The food and service were great

What a combination. A great brewpub across the street from one of the most awesome shrines in baseball. Over the two days I spent in Chicago watching ball and drinking beer I had just about everything they were pouring ad it was all excellent. Please do not miss this wonderfull location.

This will be the place to be this summer. Since Sosa's gone the Cub's will finally focus more on the ballpark and not the team. There will be great luxury seats behind home and more bleacher seats in the sun. Beats the tanning salon! Goose Island makes an unreal Bourbon County Stout. You can get it at Sam's Liquors. It only comes from the brewery not the brewpub. Sorry about that guys. We cut the overhead on that years ago. Have a sosa year!

It is hard to find a brewpub with thirteen awsome beers of their own on tap but this place does! I sampled all thirteen and found them to be exceptional to style, taste, and great classic examples. The Midway I.P.A. was a med-strong IPA with perfect malt to alchohol balaance with tons of aroma, flavor, and enough bittering hops to make it a must-have-a-pinter or two. The flagship Honkers Ale had a great taste from the malt and hops that made this beer stand apart from other American Pale Ales - this beer is worth keeping on tap at all times. the Kolsch was again a classic easy to drink wheat beer with a perfect citris hint of taste balanced with the wheat grain to make it a perfect year-round drinker. The Imperial Stout I had the next day at their other local (Clyburn) was a beer that you could only hope to buy in bottle and age in your celler. Oh yes, the food...The homemade potato chips tasted like a bottle of spice concotion that took over the fresh chip appeal. They would do better to get some new food recipies and by all means, DON'T touch the Head brewer's recipe and grain bill!

Went after the Cubs game. Beer was much better than the oldstyle i had at the game. Hexnut Brown was my favorite. The hefeweizen was good but not exceptional. The summertime was terrible both at the pub and at Millers in downtown Chicago. Good thing for the other 2 brews. The usher at the game reccomended Goose Island. He was very helpfull to us and gave us good beer advice.

We spent several days at Wrigley and went to Goose Island each time, either before or after the games. Normally, I like Honkers Ale, but it was not up to its usual good taste this past week. So I switched to the Hex Nut Brown. Since I was looking for a lower alcohol beer (to stay awake at the games!), that is why I chose that. But I did like it. My friend had the IPA, which he really liked, and the Oatmeal Stout and the Bock. He thought they were all good. They have terrific pretzels, although we liked the Bavarian ones better than the pizza ones. And their chips are terrific. We were happy the service was better than it was the last time we were here (in 2001). (At least the bartender service was terrific.) Way to go, Goose Island!

I had a cask ale, a bock and an IPA. Then I went to Metro and had a Honkers which was better than all the others. Explanation Captain? It would seem that the local establishment likes corporate style: ie: lowest common denominator. Shouldn't you be upholding the line and showing how beer's made? Oh, sorry. We must keep you in your nice condos you slags. Wrigleyville is "rock bottom" and I'll see you there next time because everything else nearby is worse. Love, Interloper...

I've been to both Goose Island locations many, many times (just ask my wife) over the last ten or so years. The Wrigleyville location is very easy to get to using the "L". Exit at Addison and walk west past Wrigley and turn left on Clark. The pub is about a block south. The food and beer are outstanding. The beer selection might be the best that I have ever seen. They brew over forty styles over the course of the year. On this visit I had the Trippel Play and the Hopscotch. The Trippel Play was a stong golden Belgian that was delicious. The Hopscotch is one of my all-time favorites. It is a well balanced pale ale. The Hopscotch was a good match with the Stilton Burger. Do not miss Goose Island when in Chicago, I know that I won't!

It was nice to see the place packed after a recent Cubs game. They had a decent selection of beers. The IPA was pretty intense - hopheads won't be disappointed. No food was ordered, but it's been good on previous visits. Service and scenery were above average.

Only been here once. No dark beers at all. Bitter was good, liked it better than at Flat Branch in Columbia, MO...but $5 was too much. Server was rarely available and brought a beer we didn't order. As I was there when only apps were being served I can't comment on the entrees, but apps appeared to be made by Ore Ida or some company of that ilk. Nothing original and calamari was served with cocktail sauce...really cheesy combo.

Went for the Real Ale fest. Had a good time. Had some chow, it was pretty good. There were too many people and I understand the fest will be someplace else next time. The place is in a great neighborhood; fun to explore. I'll go again.

The home of Real Ale 2002, we enjoyed the festival and some of their food and beers. A nice ambiance despite the crowds and a fine selection of eats. Their Abbey Ale was very good . Looking forward to getting back next year!

Not exactly sure, but the beer at the Wrigley location did not taste as good as the beer at the Clybourn location. In addition, the atmosphere was a little dull. Despite all of this, I would still recommend a trip to the Wrigley location.

Ok, heading advice from previous posters, we stuck to service from the bartender. It was Friday afternoon, just before a Cubbies game. We got great service, hot food, and great beer. Had the porter, it was fresh and flavorful. Cubs won!
