Bad news, folks. I stopped in on the way back from a party in Pricetown today. Or tried to stop in, the place looked a little quiet. Terry finally answered the door and sadly told me that they shut down the previous Sunday. Seems like they couldn't attract a finer dining crowd. Too many folks looking wings and lite. He said they may be able to pull it together in the future but he wasn't optimystic. I got here twice and liked the beers. The one dinner I had was outstanding; ostrich steak. It was over a year ago but Terry remembered me. RIP

Beer is just absolutely not to my taste. Of the limited number I have tried, everything leaves a strong, bitter after taste. Been there three times and they never had the porter available once. Dinners are OK, maybe the burgers and pub fare is better. The Mystic Shrimp appitizer rocks. Interesting decor and good service, but there are way too many better places to eat and drink in the Reading area.

I went more for the beer, but the food turned out to be the best reason for the trip up there. My wife and friend had some really kick-ass burgers, and I had the Cajun seafood pasta, which totally kicked ass. But the beer left very, very much to be desired. The Wizards Wonder Porter was the best, but the other four brews were way overly carbonated. I was very disappointed with the brew, but the food was outstanding.

We are long time ale lovers and Terry's Porter etc. real "hit the spot".The wife loves the U.P.A. We only had snacks & all were tasty. Been there twice, going back soon.

Our second visit(July 2001)was even better than our first! Dinner was exquisite. I had the scallops and my wife the veal marsala accompanied by the Ultimate Pale Ale and the Bavarian Weizen. Wonderful combos! Of course the Wizard Wonder Porter with the chocolate cake for dessert! Service was impeccable and the ambiance can't be beat! Don't miss this when in the Reading area!

North Carolina needs a "Mystic." The brews are heaven, with a dining experience that can't be beat. Brewer Terry Fies delivers a dynamic vocal performance with "Gravity Tuned", the Mystics live entertainment. Go for the brew, the food, stay for a feast for the ears. MORE PORTER!!!!

A little tough to find, but certainly worth the trip! Just a small house on the side of the road with the brewery in the garage, but the restaurant has that cozy, homey feel and the bar is like your old-time neighborhood pub with the owner pouring your drinks! Had a great lunch for a reasonable price. The Oatmeal Stout was quite tasty, but I agree with Lew, The Wizard's Wonder Porter is the best! Can't wait to get back there again! Put this one on your travel list!

You must get to this place, which looks a lot like someone's house by the side of the road. Terry Fies brews on two 1/2-bbl. RIMS systems in the garage, kegs in 5-gallon soda canisters, and serves the beer in the bar, he's moving all the time. And my good Lord, is it good beer! The Wizard's Wonder Porter is my favorite, I just can't stop drinking it: smooth and nicely bitter, with a big backflavor of baker's chocolate and the nicest frothy head you'd want to find anywhere. Food's supposed to be pretty good, I haven't had the chance to try it... the beer gets me everytime. Go find this one!

I stopped in one afternoon last month and had a nice conversation with Mario, one of the owners. Mystic is an established restaurant/night club that has added house brewed beer to its menu. It's kind of an interesting place; looks more like a house from the outside. There are several eating areas and a dance room with a band stage. When I visited, they were pouring a very tasty porter and pale ale. Both were full bodied and well made. Mystic is a little out of the way, actually northeast of Reading, but well worth the visit.

The Mystic just opened in September, but Terry has 11 years homebrewing experience. It shows in what he can do with his little half-barrel RIMS brewhouse. The Porter is stunning; a huge head caps a rich glass of bittersweet chocolate and coffee flavors that just tastes like more, more, MORE. Find this PLACE!
