I was part of a small group that visited this Karl Strauss location on a Sunday evening in early August. The place was busy but we soon we soon had a table on the covered patio. Several of us really enjoyed the Black's Beach Extra Dark, a superb schwarzbier. For dinner I opted for the brewer’s special, a rye IPA … a perfect match for my fish tacos. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals, which ranged from shrimp to pork chops to pasta. All of the brews were well received also. When we ordered the Ceviche Tres Mares appetizer to start off with, our server brought us each a small sample of the Windansea Wheat beer, which was the featured monthly beer and food paring.

Had their sampler. Most of the beers were just ok. Really enjoyed their Minden Maibock and the Stargazer IPA. They were the best of the lot. Food was great and the service was very friendly. Has a great location by the flower fields.

A little more upscale than some other Carlsbad spots. A nice location at the top of a hill. Their beers were good but not outstanding. The food was very good. Nice place for business lunch or dinner.

Nice place for dinner and a beer. We would visit again if we were in the area. Only drawback is that it is a bit pricey.

We caught this place for a late breakfast or a brunch, which was a buffet. It was nothing special, but worth waiting around til about 11am when we tried the beer sampler. Our top picks: the Star of India Pale Ale and Downtown After Dark (brown). Nothing too special about this place, but worth a stop if you're in the area.

Went there with my wife in early May 2002. The waiter was great, the food was wonderful and the beer selection was diverse and all the beer was tasty. Some of the beers were not available, but found one to each of our likings. (And we do vary).

10+ microbrews on Tap, what a selection. The food is very good too. If you're in the area, stop in, eat & drink here.

We were impressed. 10 beers on tap. Both the Maibock and Dopplebock were very good. The stout was OK. The appetizers were quite tasty. Their price of $10 for a GALLON growler (refill) was the best we have seen in any of the micros we have visited.
