To be honest, I'm an employee. So I didn't add any ratings. I just wanted to say I'm glad most people seem to love the beer, enjoy the food and have an overall pleasant experience. We're constantly working to improve customer service, but if you do ever have a problem feel free to ask for the manager/owners. It's the best way to make sure we improve. You can also email me with any reviews, comments, whatever. HickoryTapRoom@gmail.com.
Also, fyi we have a new beer - Irish Walker. And Crawdad Red will soon be coming back from a long hiatus. (Soon, not yet!!)
Thanks!

I must start out by stating how excited I was to visit this establishment. While visiting a friend in town friday night, we decided to get dinner and have a local beer here. How disappointed was I when I walked out? VERY! Not only was our waitress clearly only interested in her tips from the men she was waiting on and almost ignoring our table, she was extremely rude and short with answering our questions about the beer and food as if we were bothering her. It took over 10 minutes for her to get us a wine list, only for her to set it on our table as she walked through the bar. Most of the staff appeared to be unhappy. Infact, the only people who seemed to be enjoying themselves were the bartenders and customers seated at the bar. The bar was very hot! While the Olde Hickory Taproom has a lot to offer with their beer, wine, spirits, and food, they are lacking in customer service. If I were to ever go back and give them a second chance, I will be at the bar!

I stumbled (literally!) upon this gem of a place while temporarily relocated to Hickory from the north. The beer is in my opinion crafted for the tastes of the masses. While the locally produced beers that they offer do not quite stand up to the product of the brewpubs that I've been to in the north, this establishment more than holds it's own as a fun place to hang. Ambience is the key selling point, being housed in a very nicely redone "warehouse" feel, with wood trim abounding. Better than average pub food, and a great selection of alternate micro brands make the beer drinker feel welcome. Also have to mention that they have probably the best live jazz I've ever seen in a local venue, which happens once per week and packs the house. If you're traveling through the area, or happen to be close, stop by and you will not be dissappointed.

My family and I stopped by at 5:00 PM on a Monday night. We were seated in the empty non-smoking section. Waited over 20 minutes for a waiter to stop by the table - during this 20 minute wait we checked with the hostess that we had a server and three other couples were seated nearby and served drinks. We left after 20 minutes without ever having a server or manager stop by our table. Lousy service - would not reccommend.

Not bad at all...at least for Hickory NC. Nice place. Reminded me of a bar at Ohio State University!

As a Hickory native, I have enjoyed The Tap Room's growth from 2 small brew tanks to their current success level, furnishing brews to hundreds of restaurants & retailers in Western NC. The Pale Ale is my favorite with a lemon wedge, and a taste of Christmas Ale is a seasonal must. Thursdays reggae/blues/folk/surfer/Americana music of the highest caliber can be enjoyed, along with some fine food and fast bartenders. More liquor than you can imagine. Don't miss!

My brother lives in Hickory and the Tap Room is always a stop when I visit from Virginia. The Heffe Weisen with Lemon is the best there is! I only wish we had a Tap Room in Newport News, Va.

I am fortunate to actually live in hickory and get to frequent the "Tap Room", as we like to call it,as often as i want.I have yet to be disappointed with either their selections or quality. So if you love great beer, good food, and some smoking live music, then this is the place to be.

Stopped in on a Saturday at noon while passing through town. The fall Octoberfest was going on in town and the place was slammed. The beers are their own Olde Hickory products along with quite a few regionals. The food was above average and service was good, even though it was very busy at an odd time. Worth a stop.

This place always has a fine selection of Local Brews on Tap. A definate must visit when I am in the area. The Hickory Stick Stout is better left untried but the Pale Ale, Amber and Porter are worth trying.

I found this place using this website and planned a trip to N.Carolina to try it. It is well known to the locals as simply "The Tap Room". I only got to try 2 of the many beers available (about 15-20 on Tap) because we went close to closing. I planned to return the following day to try all before I would return to NY, however, the place was closed on July 4th. I didnt rate the food, but I saw many diners close by with good looking finger food. Anyhow, I Tried the CRAWDAD RED, and it is possibly the best beer I have ever tasted. I also tried a bluberry Hefe, and that was good too. Just so you know, there is plenty of free public parking and a movie theater that is a minute away that still only charges $1.50. If you like good beer bars and are in the area, IT IS DEFINATELY A MUST TRY SITUATION. I just wish it wasnt 13 hours away from NY =). Have a Good Beer!

I tried the "Paddy's Irish Stout". It was well rounded and quenched my thirst on a hot NC evening.
