Great setting right on the harbor. Very fine beers, I especially liked the stout and the IPA. Service is top notch and the food is excellent too.

They were out of their 'hoppiest' brew and their pale ales did not appeal so I tried the Bad Moon Porter, outstanding! Also gave the Naked Fish Stout a try and it was quite good also. Food was excellent.

We visited this brewpub for lunch on New Years day, still feeling a bit woozy from the night before. Both the food and the beers here were very good. I started with the Misfit Red, a really good, deep amber colored beer with a nice malty flavor and a decent amount of hoppiness. My wife had the Venom Pale Ale, a very good hoppy American style pale ale. I later had the bare Ass Blonde, which was quite good; a mildly hopped ale with a decent malt character. Seasonals included a barleywine and an Imperial Stout. Both looked good, but my stomach was still slightly queasy from the previous night’s festivities, so I stuck to the lighter beers. We both had an excellent lunch. I had some outstanding crab cakes; generously portioned with fries on the side. My wife had a very good tuna steak with rice and a broccoli salad.

An overall rating of "Great" for this recent addition to the Fells Point pubcrawl scene. Located on the water, and across the street from Dudas Tavern, the bar area is surrounded by large windows looking out onto Thames Street (the Main drag in Fells Point). It consists of a large oval shaped bar in a slightly industrial looking ambience. Now, for the beer: on tap, during my recent visit (Columbus Day 2005) DuClaws offered Misfit Amber Ale (ABV 5, IBU 23), Twisted Kilt Scotch Ale (ABV 7), Venom Pale Ale (ABV 5.6 and a very hoppy IBU 36) and Bad Moon Porter (ABV 5.1, IBU 32). Note: the Venom was also offerd as a "nitro pour." This was my initial visit - and will not be the last.

Venom Pale Ale: Complex and hoppy--the hops were surprisingly strong for 36 IBU. Bad Moon Porter: Big and black with lots of roast malt. 13 Degrees Wheat: Very spicey and clovey (is that redundant?). Darn good. Alchemy Oatmeal Stout: Full roast barley. Smooth. Misfit Red: A good red ale, that's just not my style. Our server was great. The two behind the bar were downright rude. Our server was very attentive. I went to ask a question at the bar and the barmaid looked me in the eye and turned the other way. This happened more than once to our party.

This establishment is a happy trade-off. It's a prime location with nice outdoor seating, and the range of brews is excellent. Some of the beers, like the stout, are a cut above the average brewpup, while others, like the Koelsch, merely provide a competent rendition of the style. The food and service are competent for the kind of up-scale image they try to project.

They only offer their own brews on tap, which usually isn't a problem. However, they generally are out of several. I really like the Friday Firkin, but most seasonals run out before I have the chance to stop in. Beware the blonde barmaid and the nasty nachos.

I visited the Fells Point location and was a little dissapointed to find out they did not brew their beers on premesis. They were all pretty good, but the atmosphere was a little too contempory for me. I only had an app, so I did not rate the food.

By and large, their beers are pretty good. The new Irish Stout "Celtic Fury" is not. They're running it on CO2 with a standard faucet. It tastes just like their Porter. Their Porter is good, mind you, they just missed the mark on an Irish stout. On Tuesday's it's $2 pints in the bar and happy hour prices all day. The large size of the place makes it a good place to duck into when some of the smaller joints in Fells are too crowded. Their bartenders are decent and can mix some nice strong drinks, too. Their pub grub is good, but stay away from the crab cakes (too fishy).

5 beers on tap--no seasonals. Were promoting a new seasonal; Celtic Fury Irish Stout (to be out soon). Was told it would be offered on hand pump as well to celebrate St. Patty's Day. Always like the Venom and did this trip as well, however I like it even more on a nitro pour. Big, cavernous building (almost too big) that I was told was only 2 years old. So don't look for that Fells Point "charm" here.

Stopped in for the first time tonight, had an Old Flame old ale, which was malty enough, but didn't have the fruitiness/estery character promised by the promo flyer; somewhat disappointing. Bartender was great, and so was the scenery: the place was absolutely crawling with women, guys were outnumbered by a large margin. Curious. Anyway, I thought the decor in the bar was a bit too industrial to be comfortable, seemed a bit echoey. Dining room, on the other hand, was very nice.

If you've been to the other DuClaw outlets, you'll find the same decor, beer, etc. here. Beer's pretty consistently good, with the seasonals especially good. (The only problem is that DuClaw does a lot of great beers, but there aren't that many offered at any given moment.) It happens that this bar is a nice "change of pace/scene" for Fells Point--different from the usual array for pubs, and adding even more beers per capita for one of the best beer-selling neighborhoods in the nation.

I researched Pubcrawler for a great brewpub in Baltimore. I looked at DuClaw's coming events, to my amazement they were releasing Funk brew at the same time I was to be there. I collect beer and my last name being Funk i had to have some. I called DuClaw's and spoke with the manager Charles; I explained that I was coming in from Texas and would love to buy a shirt or something to commemorate the event. It turned out that you had to be registered to recieve anything, I explained the circumstance and when I arrived Charles gave a complimentary shirt and glass; he was great and I really appreciated the gesture. I quickly warmed up to a very friendly bartender named Amber who kept my glass full and the conversation engaging. I tried the sampler and found all beers to be great but the Funk wheat beer was my fav. The bar is awesome, great atmosphere, great beer, but what really sold me was how I was treated. The service was exceptional, Amber took pictures with and was a delight to talk with, Charles provided me with some Funk beer periphenalia which meant a lot to me. If your in the area this is the place you want to go!!! Thanks to Amber and Charles
