We had a very enjoyable lunch on the outdoor patio of this pub on a pleasant sunny afternoon in early September. The crowd seemed a mix of locals and tourists. Our server was a bit curt, perhaps fitting for this town in the Alaskan interior, but she was otherwise quite efficient in taking and delivering our beer and food orders. The beer selection is filled with worthy choices, featuring a nice variety of Alaskan and other West Coast craft beers, including their own house beer (a strong golden ale brewed by the Glacier Brewhouse in Anchorage). I opted for the Moose's Tooth Pale Ale. Our burgers and other lunch choices were top notch. We left the McKinley Princess Lodge early to spend some extra time exploring Talkeetna before boarding the train to Anchorage, and we were glad we did.

My husband an I enjoyed several hours at this pub a few years ago on vacation in Alaska. My husband still talks about the Ice Axe Ale, and also their smoked salmon pate. We have very fond memories of this place and hope to go back again someday! We were treated very well there and enjoyed the clientele. We highly recommend the West Rib Pub!!

I went into this establishment on May 17th, 2006 to enjoy a beer with my son. I was immediately confronted with rules and policies that reminded my of a night out in NEW YORK CITY. The staff is arrogant and demeaning, looking around at the clientele I am not surprised. I presented a credit card for payment and was informed that they only accept credit cards with a valid id, that tells me alot about the cleintele they have worked so hard to cultivate, bottom line, I could probably have purchased the whole establishment lock stock and barrel and still had enough credit left on my card to get a round or two of beers without a problem. Instead they refused to do business with me, and I scraped up enough to cover two beers from pocket change but unfortunately no tip. Here is my tip, let the 20 something druggies who have coopted the place have it. It keeps them out of the way at other, friendly and more interesting places. And finally, their famous Ice Axe Ale is a swill over sweet liquid that reminds me of rot gut apple cider wine, they of course have a rule on not serving any customer more than two, which is good, because anyone who would order a second needs their head examined.
