From what I've read in the local newspaper, Ozark is closing--due to the smoke-free law, according to the management.
Bull! The reason their business declined was because the quality of their ales declined. I stopped in; tried their IPA, of which I consumed two ounces; sat the beer down and left--totally disgusted. The only place that I've ever had a worse IPA at was in Hilton Head. No hops, no bitterness, no business!

The Brewmaster needs to get off his ass and learn to make a quality beer. The beers aren't bad, but they sure aren't any beeter than buying a bottled microbrew. OBC has a great facility, now if the beer could just hold it own I would be there a lot more often.

All the beers were OK. Food was good. Service was Ok as the place was packed both of my visits. Decent place. Lots of pretentious eateries and bars nearby.

I visited OBC when I took my brother out for his birthday. I'd read several reviews of the place and liked what I had read. We ordered the Hellfire Nachos for an appetizer, which were very good. I had the French Dip sandwich, my bro had the Hellfire pizza. Both were very good. As far as service went, we had 2 waitresses waiting on us pretty much at all times. I had nothing but praise for the service.
Now to the beer, I'm a "Hop-Head," so naturally I went straight to the IPA, it was ok, nothing to write home about. Granted, I'm from the Seattle area so I'm kinda swayed by the selection there.

Hi John: My wife and I use to meet at OBC every Friday after but the service was bad. So we met at Grubs (Good service and food) Went to OBC today (First time in a while) and again the service was slow. John, hire more wait staff. But my biggest complaint was my meal. I ordered the steak/mushroom in the breadcup meal. Sounded and look great. But with looking father I noticed that there wasn't one peice of meat. None. Lots & lots of mushrooms but no meat. Not even one. So please either change the name or add some meat.

The food was actually better than the beer. I had several different beers that tasted similar. Not too adventurous but not bad.

I visited this brewpub on 8/2/02. The architecture of the building and interior decorating were wonderful. However the beers were lacking a bit. I sampled the Coach Light Ale, Horseshoe Weizen, Ladau Ale, India Pale Ale, Wilhelm the Crazed, & Six in Hand Stout. The Chipolte burger could have been a bit spicier but my wife's baked zita was great.

Although it's good to see a brewpub in Fayetteville, the beers that I have tried from OBC are pretty poor across the board. Coming from the Pacific Northwest, OBC's IPA is lacking in the hop bite that I have grown used to. In addition, the IPA is lacking in any malt flavor whatsoever, but curiously seems overpowered by Special B. The stout is similarly lacking in flavor and tastes closer to a porter. The last time that I tried OBC, the staff had trouble filling my growler properly and by the time I arrived at home, the stout was almost flat. Fayetteville has a number of good liquor stores that stock a wide array of superior micros at much better prices. Two visits were enough to convince me to never return to OBC.

This was a very nice place to visit. The beer was good. It was nice to find a brewpub in the area. I only had the soft pretzel, and the sauce was terrific. If I get stuck in Fayetteville, I'll go back.

Hey. I just revisited this place a few nights ago, and my thoughts are essentially the same as the last time I visited this place. I had a couple pints of their IPA, a pint of their stout, plus 5 oz samplers of their pilsner and “X ale.” Their IPA, although sufficiently bitter, lacked hop flavor and aroma, but seriously lacked the malt to stand up to the bittering hops. Since I love hops I enjoyed it anyway.. The stout had a good roasted flavor, but was way too thin in body-- it was more akin to a brown porter. Are they mashing at too low of a temp? The “X Ale” was dubbed an amber ale. It was thin in body, had a pleasant nuttiness with very low hopping, and finished slightly sweet. It was allright. The insipid pilsner lacked any notable Saaz character or subtle malt sweetness that make pilsners distinguishable. I don’t want to sound too harsh. There weren’t any real problems with the brews, but they were all unremarkable. The IPA was my favorite. I ordered a Mediterranean salad w/ Pita, hummus and tabouleh. They certainly don’t skimp on the feta! Not bad. The crab dip appetizer was pretty tasty, but the bread was stale! So I put it on my pita slices and it tasted fine. The service was good, and the place had a lively, brewpub/restaurant atmosphere. Hey-- if you ever get the chance to visit Fayetteville, just right up the road is a place called “Brewhaus”... an absolutely overwhelming amount of wonderful microbrews and imports on draft and in bottle. Hit Ozark Brewery then go there! (If you go to Brewhaus first you won’t want to leave.... yummm. bigfoot on tap... ) Marc

I was expecting a bit more from the beers based on the reviews. I had a sampler of the Pale Ale, IPA, Stout, Hefeweizen, Bavarian Dark Lager, and their lightly hopped house ale (can't remember the name) All of the beers, including the stout were lacking in body-- they were actually a bit watery. Interestingly, the stout and the dark lager were very similar in aroma, taste and mouthfeel. The IPA, although well-hopped and crisp, lacked any real malt character. It was 50 IBUs. The Pale Ale was unremarkable and suffered from the lack of body like the other brews. Both the pale and the IPA could have used a bit more of a hop aroma/bouquet. The Hefeweizen had more of a clove/banana character than is typical for an American Hefeweizen and was refreshing, but generally speaking I'm not a fan of wheat beers. The menu selection was impressive-- lots of sandwiches, wraps, pizza, seafood, but I just got the Greek Pizza. It was just allright-- pizza ia all about the crust and this crust was so-so. Other menu items are probably more tantalizing. Hopefully, next time I go the beer will improve. I'll also order something different to eat next time I visit.

This was the third time my wife and I had visited OBC and my good rating on the service is based on this visit. The waiter was miserable, almost as if we were bothering him (he was tipped accordingly). After we ate, we moved to the bar and received the same great service as our other 2 visits. I am a homebrewer and I LOVE unfiltered beers. That's what OBC has! I sampled the Maibock, which was excellent and then I managed to choke down a few IPA's, which are my personal favorite. They only had 4 house beers on tap, unfortunately. The other was a Hefeweizen and I am not a big fan of wheat beers, so I didn't sample that.I believe the fourth was something called Long Rein Ale which I also didn't sample. The last time I was there (1997) I sampled their Pilsner, which is also quite good. I really enjoyed my meal as well. My roast beef sandwich was good, but the Fried Chicken my wife had was incredible. Not as good as my grandmother's (who was from Arkansas), but close. We also mangaged to get there for most of happy hour, so the beers were $2.25 for 22 oz mugs. WOO HOO! Maybe they knew it was my birthday (which it was!). My only complaint is the small selection of house beers. Most pubs I go to have at least 6 house beers on tap. Other than that, I would strongly recommend checking out OBC if you are in the area.

Good southern brews are hard to find, but this pub keeps improving. The ales are getting more bitter (which is good, for those of you who don't have a clue as to how beer should actually taste), the food is excellent, and the waitstaff very friendly and efficient. Wonderful atmosphere, too.

My wife loves this place. It is one of the nicest brewpubs I have seen. I never get there when they have a special brew, so I guess my only gripe would be they don't have enough variety in their beer menu.

Spent most of my earnings here while in grad school and make a point of returning whenever I'm in F-ville. British-style ales are best--hoppy, fruity, and a strange chalky hint that may be caused by local water. Hefe is popular and comes in 23 oz glasses. All others in dimpled Imperial pint glasses. Great happy hour--$2 for 20 oz. Some seasonal beers pack up to 9-10% alc. Michael jackson (not the singer)had good things to say about OBC. Go see why.

The first two times I visited here I was very disappointed. But this time the overall impression was better. The IPA,Weeheavy, and winterwarmer were very good.Although the stout had so much yeast in it you needed a spoon! Yuk!!!For premium prices I expect premium products and service. Nuf said!

I spent two years in Fayetteville, and I could never understand the rage about Ozark Brewing Co. The beers I tasted were usually bitter. But the food is good and you can't beat the atmosphere. In NW Arkansas, you don't really have much of a choice.

Come here for the food, not the beer. The beer is unfiltered and all are very cloudy. The beer has decent taste but looks like ... The food in the pub is great pub grub. Upstairs is fine dining. Owners now have a bakery down the street as well.

The coachlight ale is pretty nice to sip. They also make a mean reuben sandwich, a standard by which brewpub eats are judged!

The building is a great atomsphere. A remodeled warehouse of open post and beam construction. Great French Quarter-like veranda overlooking the street. Eating downstairs is very casual while the restaurant upstairs is much more refined. So, whatever the occasion, it's an appropriate place to be.
