BEAUTIFUL bar!!! GREAT band! CRABBY Staff! Went this past Sat. night to check it out and have a drink with friends. Arrived about 10pm. Heard the band upstairs, who were great, and checked it out. GREAT sound speakers throughout the place! The crowd seemed good but so many people were at dining tables and there was no where to dance or move around. I would think there would be bar tables or something. The dinner tables looked out of place. People were standing up against walls and doorways. The staff seemed huffy, and dramatic. Why have entertainment then not allow people to enjoy? Everyone seemed to want to dance and party with the band, but the lights were so bright. It felt like the closing time instead of 10:30. They left the lights on bright all night long and it kinda lost the ambiance. The bathrooms were really clean and decorated nice, which is important when your having cocktails. We had fun with our friends and the band was a nice surprise, but the crabby staff and the lingering dinner crowd was a let down. We will try it again after they have been open longer and hopefully we can see the entertainment again! Wine bar looks nice, and downstairs bar seemed nice but a little stuffy.

Nice place, though a bit dimly lit. The beer selection is pretty good, and their food is decent -- better than standard bar fare, to be sure! The bartender both times I was there was cute and had on a tight T-shirt, which always raises my ... ahem ... spirits. The biggest draw for the place, though, is the live music they have almost every night. They have some pretty good bands too, I understand, although I've not gotten a chance to get there to see any of them.

A fine selection of ales, stouts and lagers, all very well kept and poured properly. Surprisingly good food, a lot more creative than average pub fare.

McGonigel's Mucky Duck is well regarded for its good pub food and fine beer selection, and is recognized as an excellent venue for live acoustic music. The McGonigel's website contains a copy of the food menu, including their highly recommended scotch eggs, and it showcases the many musicians scheduled to perform on their stage in upcoming weeks and months. I could not find any discussion of the Mucky Duck's beer selection on the website, so I thought I would say a little more about that here. There are close to 30 taps, dominated by UK and other imports. On this September visit, these included Fuller's ESB & Porter, MacEwans, Belhaven Scottish Ale, Whitbread, Young's Double Chocolate Stout, and more commonly found brands such as Harp, Guinness, Murphy's Stout, Newcastle, and Boddington's. German beers included oktoberfests from Spaten and Paulaner, and a Paulaner Hefe. American craft beers were also represented, including Fat Tire, Red Seal, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Abita Amber, Anchor Steam, Full Sail Pale Ale, and Sam Adams Octoberfest. The few remaining taps featured several ciders, a major brewer's light beer, and Texas' favorite Shiner Bock. A good place to enjoy a pint is on the patio. If you are just interested in beer and some pub fare, come early before the music crowd arrives later in the evening, when there is usually a cover charge.

The food is great and goes wonderfully well with the beer. The beer... there are some great beers here.. but I am partial to the Guinness and the Young's double Choc Stout. There are a lot of great bands that come through here and all in all it is a super cool place to hang out. Not a lot of crazy kids that I've ever seen, but a good place for people to enjoy food, listen to great music, and drink some great beer.

If you have a taste for English brews this is the place to try them. The food selection is a great assortment of hearty pub dishes from the wonderful fish & chips to the hard to find Scottish Eggs. Texas bands as well as Celtic groups are the staple entertainment of this place. I would not recommend it as a singles pickup place. It more of a place where you could hang out with a group of your friends and family for some high caliber food and music. The place also boast a small yet impressive wine list as well.

This is a fun place. The beer is good! Usually, you can find live entertainment to satisfy your music taste. Just don't bring a roudy group because you will be asked to be quiet.
