The continuing demise of brewpubs in southeastern Texas...The Strand closed in 2001. This location now houses a Fuddrucker's restaurant.

Karankawa Gold is their best effort, in my opinion, but all of their beers are too thin and watery. They are obviously courting the Bud-Miller-Coors crowd, rather than real beer drinkers. On the plus side, the balconies are a good place to people-watch, especially during Mardi Gras.

As tourists, this was an OK place for lunch. The beer was OK, food better, atmosphere better still.

I have visited this brewpub many times and have always been disappointed in their brews. They only served lagers which can only be compared to swill. Last Tuesday I visited this place while wearing their t-shirt. I waited for over 15 minutes after being seated by a manager and still was not served. If their management can not make sure repeat customers are served, then they don't need my business.
