THIS PLACE HAS CHANGED ITS NAME TO THE LAB, AND IT IS A BAR THAT JUST HAPPENS TO MAKE IT OWN BEER. THE SIGN ON THE OUTSIDE SAID IT OPENED AT 11:00 BUT THE DOORS WERE LOCKED. WE WALKED AROUND TO THE BACK WHERE THERE WAS SOME GUY CLEANING AND ASKED IF THEY WERE OPEN. HIS RESPONCE:"WHY?,WHUTS UP?" I SAID "I WOULD LIKE TO TRY THE BEER". HE REPLIES "YOU WANT A BEER?, NAW MAN WE'RE CLOSED MAN, I THINK WE OPEN AT 3:00" MY RECOMENDATION... DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS PLACE!!!!!!!

When I entered the 'Lab' I thought I was in the wrong place. The only thing that gave me a clue that I was in a brew pub was the beer tanks behind the bar. The Hefeweizen went down nicely but other than that............

This place is now not only a yuppie nightclub but it just turned into a restaurant. It's not the Laboratory Brewing Co anymore, the name even changed. We sat down at a table for almost 10 minutes and none of the waitresses walking by ever stopped to serve us...so we just left. Bad atmosphere anyway, there were kids running around and hardly anyone was drinking beer. And there's a damn kids sandbox outside for christssake!

The "Lab" as it is known here is now mostly a club and not a serious brewery anymore. It is also an under 21 club and the most crowded place I've been in. So this was more of a "meat market" than a brewery. Their best attribute is their live music.

We have visited Laboratory Brewing over a period of several years and were generally happy with their food and brews. During our recent visit we were shocked by its deterioration. It is now a "night club" that does not open until 7 pm. The "beer" they now brew is no better than an average to poor homebrew. We sampled two styles and could not tell the difference.

The brewmaster here is obviously agaylord uhhperry, doesn't know how to properly hop pale ales, can't get the porter straight, has NO TALENT local bands play for REDICULATED cover charge. Hey, saturn, I know you just bought the place, but you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about beer you sell, you, DUMB!!!

Were arrived just in time to watch Swing night. The beer was tasty & the burgers good, the cheese fries were great! Would like to see more of a beer selection but what was available was good. The gold was OK, the Pale & Porter very good, did not try the Wheat. Mixed the gold in the Porter together was a unique blend.

I had the Pale ale and the porter. Porter is pretty good the pale ale was OK. The chicken wings were spicy and tasty. Not enought wait staff for the size crowd. Big drawback to this place: The mens room was NASTY!

Couldn't get in to the place. I know Friday nights are most likely the wrong time to go, but after driving around their parking lot and one across the street for 15 minutes I gave up.

This brewpub, located adjacent to the Quarry entertainment complex, is in the old lab building of the old quarry. I tried both the pale and the porter. The pale was adequate. The porter was a better and is the beer that I would drink if I returned. The staff was setting up for the Friday evening crowd when I stopped by, so I can't comment on the service. The bartender that took care of me was attentive but didn't know much about the beer. Is it worth a second trip? I don't think so.

This fish tacos are a must, and in Texas weather(temp 97 the day I visited) any beer tastes great. My advice - go when it's warm & order tacos.

This Brewpub needs to add a few more products to the line. I tasted four while I was there: Concrete Blonde, Alamo Amber, San Jose Brown, and Jalevin Hefeweizan. The Alamo Amber was a good ale and the San Jose Brown had a good chewy, malty flavor. The Blonde and the Hefeweizan were pretty average. The food was quite good. I had a Border Burger and my wife had Chicken with creamed corn and green beans, all of which was very tasty. Contrary to what other people have said in their reviews, I found the service to be very good. But that could be because we arrived early on a Friday afternoon and there were only a few people there. This is a average brewpub, but still worth a short trip if you are in the area.

A yuppie live music bar with beer as an afterthought--plastic cups always a dead giveaway but a nice place to hang out for the singles crowd.

The beers just seemed to be missing the spark to make it great beer. The Pales a little underhopped, the Hefeweizen a little weak in the yeast flavoring. Worth a trip if you are in San Antonio, but not worth a long drive.

The establishment is endowed with a naturally appealing atmosphere, which gives the illusion of competence. However, if nothing is done to overcome a severe case of mediocrity the place is doomed for failure. An insider noted that the brewer at the Laboratory is often found drinking at the Blue Star. Is it research or does he know something that we don’t?

This could only be worse if the yuppies turned it into a fern bar! Go to the Blue Star for a fantastic selection and awesome brews, including their cask-conditioned ales. For a beer bar, Hills & Dales Ice House has 54 taps, with virtually all being micros.

Poor service. Major "in place" for under-sophisticated SA yuppies who still think Corona is an exotic beer. As one other reviewer commented, at least there's only three beers, so you won't waste a lot of time deciding what you like.

Close to the airport for those last minute timekillers. Food and beer are OK but service is terrible. Even when you try to be nice and tell them you are on a tight schedule.

Stopped in to try the beer while on a business trip. Had the sampler, found a couple I could drink. It was a quiet time, so we enjoyed chatting with the bartender. He didn't know much about brewing, but he was a nice guy. I enjoyed the hour I spent there.

With only two brewpubs for the one million people in San Antonio, it's a shame this one's so bad. Snobby service and lousy beer. At least you don't have to muddle through several beers to come to the conclusion the beer's no good - they only have three.

Service was terrible. We waited 10 minutes for the waitress and hostess to decide who should deal with the area we were in. It would have been understandable if there were more than 3 (we were two) customers in the house.
