Good riddance. The rude staff absolutely would not serve you unless they knew you, even if you were the only customer in the place. I'm glad they're all out of jobs.

New estimated last day: Feb 19 05. Men's Room almost totally out-of-order with mud on the floor that won't be cleaned up due to the imminent closure of the building. Service great 1 night, poor the next night. 2 different bartenders. Storm King Stout, #8 in the World, on tap as well as the last BBC brews (less than 50 kegs now). The chalkboard behind the bar says it all: "we go when they go! drain these kegs!" BBC 1989-2005 R I P.

Last 57 1/2-barrel kegs (9,000 brews) according to the chalkboard behind the bar - 2 are Doppelbock, the other 55 are Pils, Marzen, and Weizen. Dunkles is gone for good! $3 buys you a large glass all the time now (happy hour pricing). A Victory is on tap also. Not many customers and not many Mug Club mugs left on premises anymore. So sad...

The Wharf Rat in Fells Point will honor and store BBC Mug Club members mugs. That's right bring your BBC mug and they will store it for you, and honor the terms of the BBC Mug Club membership. This is at the Fells Point Wharf Rat only. Bill Oliver is happy to do whatever it takes to cushion this blow to Baltimore's Brew-Pub community.

Baltimore Brewing Co (Degroen's Grill)is out of business after this next week (Feb 12 05 approx.). World class beer! Construction in the neighborhood killed it though - losing customers and money. Less than 100 kegs left to be sold (9,000 beers). No longer brewing any. Only open 4 nights a week now (Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sat). I repeat: this place rocked with its world class brew but it is now in its last days literally! Mug Club regulars will reportedly grab their 1-liter mugs and head over to Little Havana as soon as this place goes under! 4 nights left? BBC 1989-2005 R I P and thanks for a great run of Weizen, Pils, Marzen, Dunkles, and the seasonals such as Weizenbock, Maibock, Doppelbock, Altbier, Helles, Lawnmower Pils, etc. Theo Degroen = great owner; Derek = great former manager. Tony = great former bartender.

Reliable reports from the building indicate that this place has ceased all brewing operations and will CLOSE when the remaining inventory is sold through. Not the final word yet, but consider this "Last Call!" Damn.......

My husband and I went here in December 2004 with some friends. We remembered it to be one of our favorite places near the waterfront. EGAD! Something went wrong someplace... clientele was, shall we say, of a different class, the menu selection was nonexistent, and the place had gone to pot.

They no longer serve a regular menu. The food selection now is mainly sandwiches. You can no longer get a regular house salad! Considering the patronage on a recent visit, this place's days are numbered.

The Baltimore Brewing Company used to be one fine place, both for its German-style beers and food.
But when we went there a couple of weeks ago, we were shocked to find the "menu" consisting of a single piece of paper with almost nothing on it: nachos, burgers, hot dogs/sausage... something like that.
We asked what was going on, and were told that "while the construction across the street was going on" this was going to be the menu. I hope the construction doesn't take too long, but from what I can see, this place has now lost most of its parking spaces, and, I fear most of its customers as well.
If this place doesn't move, I think they are in for some hard times.
HOWEVER, if you want world-class Pils and Marzen, this is STILL the place.

My wife and I were here between Christmas 2003 and New Years 2004. The beers have gotten better from the last time we were here(it was good before) and the food we ordered matched the beers perfectly with a little help from our server.

In every respect one of the top 5 BPs in USA. And the Pils, oh, THE Pils! Perfect balance of malt and Saaz hops, moderate body, clean and smooth. I've been going here since 1992, and visit several times each year. For a few years, ca. 2000, place fell off a bit in product and atmosphere. But, last visit, December 03, it's back to where it belongs. (Most of pool tables gone, thank God.) Try the chicken wings with the Marzen or Dunkels.

Was there on a Saturday during a Ravens playoff game - our server was extremely attentive and friendly, the food was fantastic, and the beers (I had the weizen, doppelbock and edelweiss weizenbock) were all top notch. I wish I lived closer!

Wandered in with some friends on a Sunday afternoon. It was small crowd, but it was worth the trip. Great brews, nice surroundings. All in all a good place to kick back in Baltimore. Food smelled delicious, next time I will have to dig in.

Weisenbock time agian, this and the rauchbock are my two seasonal favorites. Growler refills are 12.60, and they only fill/replace the degroen growlers. like a banana/apple cider.

Listen Alfonso, do yourself a favor. I know you're stuck going to the Inner Harbor with the wife and kids so just pop them your plastic , point them at the shops and skip down to Little Italy. Fall into a booth and melt away into some of the finest brews in the area. This place is an oasis. I swear to Gambrinus!

Once again, my visit to the BBC was outstanding. Good Service, decent food but..outstanding beers! FYI some reviewers have commented on the neighborhood, not the best, true, but the city has torn down a lot of garbage in the area and a developer is building some high priced townhomes to replace the garbage in the next year, so things should improve!

Stopped in mid-afternoon on Saturday and had a Weizen. One of the best examples of the style I've ever had. They don't have too many choices, but I'd rather have a few done well than a lot done poorly.

What a neat place. I believe they only brew lagers. Very different from what I am used to. The beers were the cleanest crystal clear beer I have ever drank. The smoked beer was remarkably tasty. I am not a big fan of smoked beers most are over powering this one had enough balance that I do believe I could have drank several...Very traditional true to style beers. I have to give big kudos to this brewery in a day and age when so many beer recipes get warped they are cranking out some great lagers...

DeGroen's Grill, as it is now known, has been remodeled slightly. The pool tables are gone, replaced by several small tables and chairs. The food is more like Pub fare with a german accent. The beers are always wonderful; authentic and particularly fresh tasting. Their seasonals are often not widely distributed but are available here.
