I've been coming here for years, and it's one of the best in the area. The beer overlord who orders for this place has been supplying a diverse and consistently updated selection of brews for all the peeps. Suprisingly large and smart selection, on tap and in bottles. Tasty fries and burgers, actually all food is good. Wish they weren't afraid of male bartenders, but the gals who helm the brig have always been great. Terrific pint happy hour. Very helpful chap names Kurt? who knew all about the city, and was practically a beer encyclopedia.

The beer list showed a broad variety of brands and styles - but did not say much about their so called "House Beers". The waitress explained to me that their seasonal special was an Imperial Stout (which came in a nice glass that would be more appropiate for German Pils) - the beer was served swiftly and was a good example of the style. What I did not like (and posted as a really negative example on my Bierguide Blog http://bierguide.blogspot.com)was the speed of service once I wanted to check out. I tried to signal to the waitress (and the waiter) behind the bar that I wanted to pay, placed a coaster on my glass, even held a 20 $ note in my hand to make clear I intended to go - but still I had to wait for 14 minutes till they brought my check and took my money.

They had about a dozen beers, only a few of their own, and those were brewed for them elsewhere. Food was good pub food and the service was excellent. They took good care of my 5 year old daughter.

WBC had an outstanding slection of brews, some which are hard to come by in any greater metro area. If your in Manhattan don't pass up a great chance to drink awesome brews, did I mention the service rocks!

WBC Used to be a brewbup but is now a pub that serves some of the Chelsea brews on tap as well as many of the greatest available on the planet including the beers of Stone. I'm glad to see that some places care enough to bring in beers that can usually only be found on the west coast. Great selection of brews, many with high IGU's, good food. Thanks WBC.

These guys really have it figured out... probably the best beer bar on the Upper West Side. They still carry some Chelsea brews, but recently they've started pouring a couple of Brooklyns, Magic Hat, Rogue, Chimay (Draft!!), Stone, and others. The Bottle list is pretty extensive, including Allagash, Duvel, Hitachino Red Rice Ale, and a lot of others--most of which are rather eclectic. Bottle list also changes seasonally (as Kirk, the bartender, explained). Beer quality was surprisingly good considering the large tap selection--they know how to take care of it. Great Burgers! And probably the best onion rings I've ever had! The bar and waitstaff was very friendly and helpful, as well. If you're on the Upper West Side, check 'em out!

Understaffed for the crowd that was there. Lots of people got the burgers and they looked good. The wings were mediocre at best though.

Though not a "brewpub", they had 15 beers on tap. I mean "beers", not the stuff in red or silver cans. They also had several local micros.

The place has dumped the brewing aspect of its existence in a remodeling, opening up again as a restaurant with beer from, I believe, Chelsea Brewing. It's always sad to see a brewpub go in a city where they're rare to begin with.

Unlike some previous reviewers, I found the service pretty good. Maybe sitting at the bar helped? My quesadilla was quite good. I found the beers clean and well made, if not necessarily to my taste.
The blonde was closer to mainstream than my taste runs with a fairly light body, maltiness, and hoppiness. The raspberry ale was raspberry ale: light and fruity - not to my taste (none of them are) but, were I judging, it would have scored pretty well. The star of the visit (again, to my taste) was the red ale: clear red/gold; hop/malt nose; hops predominate the flavor with dry malt underneath; obviously dry-hopped but gently so; fairly long, hoppy finish; a nice, hoppy red ale.

Their "Hoppy Holiday Ale" was undrinkable. What's a New Yorker to do? We don't even have a decent brew pub in this city. Better to go to The Gingerman or D B A.

Visited as a prelude to an Allman Bros. show in March '99. OK experience for beer & food, but bartender went out of his way to move slowly and provide less than adequate service. All things considered, would go back though.
