This place is now closed and good riddance. It was always too loud and the service was awful. And unless you got a bottle of Bud, you were risking your health. Towards the end, to many people I knew got sick when sharing a pitcher, and it wasn't like they were guzzling down the stuff.

Well, WopBop thinks that most of the reviewers on this page got it right. The beer is pretty bad. It's a sports bar by day and a loud silly rock band place at night, and the beer sucks.

Just read the other comments on this page. If you go here expect to get colored water they call beer, and as far as service goes, bring an apron so you can serve yourself. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this one. You can get better beer & food at Golden Gallon...

Poor quality beer - don't bother unless you like that bad homebrew taste.

The Beer Garten, despite the name, is not an authentic german restaurant or brewery. It is a glorified sports bar with a brewery attached -- so keep that in mind when you visit and you will be pleasantly surprised rather than disappointed. The beer selection is about average, at least for atlanta. The seasonal beers are your best bet, since the regular beers on tap include not one but two pale, watery lagers, a red-colored ale that lacks real malt character. Try anything dark, since these beers have the most character, like their octoberfest or stout in the fall. If you prefer hoppier bees, try their pale ale or maibock in the spring. Ask for a list of current beers and also ask for a small sample, since the descriptions are sometimes off.

The fest was nothing but sweet water; no body at all. The pale ale had no cascade hops, contrary to what the beer menu said. Don't waste your time.

The atmosphere aspired to german standards, however fell way short. I was deafened by the outrageously loud music and big screen tv. Beer is o.k., nothing special. The garden is not. A patio with whinny alternative rock groups. Overall, doesn't even come close to its promising name.

The Buffalo Skull, Wow! Sent me over the top. I don't remember too much about the rest of the place. Oh yeah, lots of very friendly and attractive ladies.

Beers, German in style, were simply ok, with the selection being a bit limited. The Alt was more like a Pale, with not enough of a malt body; lager was just OK; the Mild was real good for the style ( a not-so-very-exciting one to start with); A typical "Red " Ale; A decent dark lager- nice drinkin' beer; the hefeweiss was nice - in the German hefe- style. Cool dark atmosphere, gorgeous bartendress (understatement of the decade). Did not try the food.

Tap Water is more exciting. The beers are just so nondescript that I would almost rather drink Bud. Luckily you can try John Harvard's three doors up, or even better, Percy's Fish House three blocks up!

It is a shame that the quality is poor across the board. Being able to sit on the deck on a Sunday afternoon and listen to 99X's Resurrection Sunday would be great, but the staggeringly poor service, mediocre beer, and frightful food convinces me to listen to the show on the radio and dine elsewhere.

The beer was not to style. I went expecting German and was sorely disappointed. Also, their lagers are ales.

German style beers. The dark lager, light lager, hefeweizen, and alt are all excellent. They also mix the dark and light lager for something called the whacky yak or something. This was not so good.

In addition to the mediocre food fare, the service definitely leaves something to be desired. Not only did I have to wait for extended periods between beer service (unacceptable in a drinking establishment), the waitress lost the credit card of the person with whom I was splitting the bill. . . and then insisted that we only gave her one card. When a kind patron retrieved it from the floor (where she had dropped it), we were offered no apology or even admission of error on her part. Upon informing the manager of these events, she was completely unsympathetic and rather ornery. We were not offered compensation of any kind. All in all, it was a dismal dining experience.
P.S. I've had a better club sandwich in my grade school cafeteria.

I went on a Sunday when they have all you can eat wings. Apparently it's all you can eat off of a plate of six. Waitress was unattentive. The manager on duty was an arrogant snot.
