PubCrawler.com
was started in 1995 by Washington, D.C. area web shop named Potomac
Interactive. From 1995 until 2000 under the leadership of Don Grage
(CEO of Potomac Interactive) PubCrawler became a proving grounds
of sorts for his firms new employee recruits.
Potomac
Interactive was gobbled up by South Eastern United States web power
shop IXL. For nearly two years (1999-2000) PubCrawler ran in automated
mode - collecting a large number of new reviews without an administrative
caretaker.
IXL
subsequently fell on hardtimes and eventually merged with Scient.
Scient in July of 2002 filed for bankruptcy protection and was acquired
by SBI
and Company.
During
2000 PubCrawler was bought by AreaIndex, LLC, at auction from the
holding company remains of Potomac Interactive.
AreaIndex is a web consulting and web product company based
in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania MSA. Started in 1996, we develop
applications for companies who want to manage their web site, engage
in commerce, support their customers and realize positive gains
from embracing web-based technology.
