"Finally got to do a sit-down meal at Bayern. What an experience! The townsfolk were right -- the food here is just excellent. From the Black Forest smoked ham & Swiss cheese platter to the red cabbage to the bread with sausage spread to the schnitzel to the spatzle to the swiss-cheese-filled Brats -- all of it was exceptional. Every last bite. And believe me, it was a lot of bites. Entrees are pricey but you get rather hearty servings. Nobody at our party of six could finish everything on their plate. Our visit was on the last night of their Oktoberfest celebration so we even got to enjoy a set of traditional Bavarian tunes from an accordian / clarinet duo. This place is quite an experience. I can't wait to go back. If you're traveling on Interstate 57 or IL Route 47 through East Central Illinois, do plan a stopover in Gibson City at Bayern. It'll be worth your while."
