Tony's claims to the World's Oldest Pizza Kitchen. Established circa 1950 or so. Fitting that the World's whatever is in Sharon, Pennsylvania. A town that believes it has the World's Largest Shoe Store and World's Largest Candy Store.
All three World claims are up for great dispute, but it makes for good marketing they believe.
Tony's is a dingy dated old spot - half pizza joint and half bar - divided down the middle of the building. In any other locality this prime location along a main road and on a corner would have a killer pizza place with some kitchy take on pizza. Well in Sharon it's Tony's original recipe, mostly canned toppings, little if anything made fresh. The pizzas are misleading in size - maybe a true medium in size. The pizzas are however relatively cheap in price and that might explain the place's popularity and endurance.
