Charlies Steak Rib & Ale is centrally located at the intersection of Y Highway and 160 in Forsyth Missouri. I’ve had a chance now to eat there numerous times over the past year, most often while in the company of friends. The building is relatively new, clean and is a pleasant place to eat in general. Most of the time, the service has been prompt except for a time when I stopped by for lunch and they were crowded. As far as the menu goes, it offers a wide variety including items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I personally like the daily specials which are great deals for the amount of food you get. My favorite special has been the steak platter. This menu item is very tasty and the meat, unlike some restaurants I have been to, was juicy and done just the way I ordered it. On the negative side, I’d also have to say that a couple of menu items were not up to my expectations. The hamburger, for instance comes on thick slices of bread, not buns. I happen to like buns. Also, their baked potato with bacon and cheese was a little too heavy on the cheese for my tastes.
Charlies also features a full service bar complete with a microbrewery! The draft beer is served cold in 16 ounce glasses and the bar usually has a few people sitting around chatting which is nice. All in all, I would give this venue four stars.
