Samuel Adams not afraid of community service
Boston Beer Co., brewer of Samuel Adams, wanted to give back to the community that nurtured and inspired it, so Jim Koch and his crew of merrymakers donated $250,000 to fund microloans for people hoping to enter the service industry.
“Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream provides many different kinds of support to financially underserved food and beverage entrepreneurs, including seminars, workshops, mentoring and speed coaching events where Boston Beer employees provide their expertise one-on-one and with small groups of entrepreneurs,” a release reads.
BBC’s efforts haven’t gone unnoticed, however, as Boston Business Journal recently awarded its Corporate Citizenship Partner of the Year in the Innovation to the American Dream project, which has created or saved 210 jobs to date. Not bad for a couple of guys and a keg.
