Sprecher Brewing Co. revives not-so-ancient beer
Brewing, being an ancient tradition and all, has lots of history. Breweries are always touting recipes from the 1800s, the 1500s, the Age of the Dinosaurs, etc. But what if a company simply wants to bring back a recipe from the Grunge Era. Isn’t that cause for celebration as well?
We say yes, and salute Glendale, WI finest beermakers, Sprecher Brewing Co. for re-releasing Sprecher Dunkle Weizen. The session beer, which hasn’t been produced since when Nirvana ruled the radio, comes in a 12-ounce bottle, hence the twist on the traditional “Dunkel Weizen” name. (Truth: We don’t quite understand this either, but we’ll let it slide.) The brew “has characteristic roasted malt flavors balanced by light hops, mild carbonation, hints of spice, and fruit.”
If you want to try the brew, get thee (that’s Olde English for “yourself”) to Sprecher as its only sold in the Gift Shop.
