Great Awesome! Great Awesome! Awesome!

Establishment: Esca Restaurant, New York, NY

This is the first non-beer review I've done for PubCrawler in 7+ years but we were so pleased with our meals that I felt I should tell everyone. We stopped here "on a whim" last Tuesday evening after touring NYC all day on the recommendation from a friend who lives in New York but hadn't been there yet. Boy are we glad we did! The food was some of the best any of us had in a long time. The menu is Italian seafood. I had the Maccheroni alla Chittara (pasta with sea urchin and crabmeat) that had some of the best sauce I've ever tasted. Others had the gnocchi and the fettucine with shrimp and jalapeno. Both were also very good. In fact we were so pleased with everything that we discovered the chef has published a book that has recipes for many of the dishes they serve; which we promptly bought. The service was also top-notch! And the prices are fairly reasonable being located close to central Manhattan. I just have a little problem paying $9 for a 12 ounce bottle of Ommegang beer. But that wouldn't stop me from going again the next time we're in New York and it shouldn't stop you either.
