Terrific IPA - not necessarily the hoppiest but very flavorful. Nitro ESB also very well done with a head as creamy as Guinness. Would like to see a house stout or porter. Had the Sheepherder's Stew - a cup-sized lunch portion but very tasty with lots of lamb. The burgers are good, too. Definitely worth a visit. |

Both the holiday ale and Blackwater stout were outstanding. Very flavorful with great character and texture. Food was only ok. A worthwhile stop if you're in town. |

John Harvard's Brew House, Washington, DC
Nice establishment with very competent, friendly service. The Pale Ale has a well rounded hoppy flavor. Pennsylvania Porter was particularly good with a creamy head almost more remniscent of a stout but with a bold roasted taste. The printed menu is a tease with a list of all beers (25+) offered throughout the year - unfortunately, only five were available when I visited. Enjoyed a rosmary pork chop for lunch which was well prepared and flavorful. The extra effort by the staff and the bartender will definitely make me a return customer. |

Respectable establishment but neither the beers nor food will knock your socks off. Beers are somewhat flavorful but lack distinctive character. McMahon Ale is the best choice with bit of hoppy bite. |

BBC is definitely worth the trip. Tried two beers with dinner. The ESB has a nice complex character and just the right bitterness. The Porter is very hearty with a smooth head. The porter-based beef stew is savory enough but the fresh baked bread is not to be missed. |

Establishment:
Breckenridge Brewery, Breckenridge, CO
Visited Breckenridge after a four year absence and was sorely disappointed. The stout was weak with soda-pop carbonation. The other selections tasted virtually the same except for the Avalanche Ale which was undrinkable. A far cry from the tasty IPA I enjoyed four years earlier. Food was quite good, though. And the service was decent considering the crowds. |
