Beer Quality Beer Selection Food Service Overall
Good Great Good So So Good

Establishment: Mile Square Bar and Grill, Hoboken, NJ

The main reason I stop at The Mile Square is for their daily Happy Hour (3:30 to 7 p.m.). All beers are $2-2.50 per pint and house wines are 4 bucks. They have about 30 taps which feature many different styles of ales and lagers. There is always something interesting to choose from. Yards, Victory, Paulaner and Warsteiner are regulars here. The downside is that most of the bartenders are obnoxious, lack courtesy and respect and basically know nothing about beer. Plus, they refer to customers as "My Boy". "What does my boy want?" What the hell is that? Plus, when I asked for a Warsteiner in a Warsteiner pils glass rather than a Miller Lite pint, I received a snide remark.

The food is expensive and eratic. Great one visit, the opposite the next. I have been to a few partied here where everything was great. There seems to be a definite difference between eating in the dining room vs. the bar. But, if you can stand lousy bartenders in order to enjoy quality ales and lagers at unbeatable prices, The Mile Square is your place.
