Congrats go out to Chris/Matt and the crew at LPPB for garnishing not one, but TWO awards at TAP NY 05!!! The Matthew Vassar cup and the F.X. Matt cup will reside in Lake Placid for the remainder of 2005. Job well done.......beer well done! Joe |

Hey "Buffalo Bailey"......Get real (as they say at LPPB).Some nice beer is served at this establishment.Yes, the Frostbite Pale Ale is the standout, but Ubu is steady good. The Ectoberfest is a fine lager, and a great Barleywine was poured this winter. As far as food prices,since when is $7.50 expensive for a dinner?? I don't know what your adgenda is, but LPPB is a great brewpub in the north country. |

Lucked into this establishment while on a business trip.180 beers on tap!!What can you say?Some standouts i tried:Firestone Double Barrel Ale,Big Rock Warthog Ale and Anchor Christmas Beer.My wife got addicted to Lost Coast Raspberry Brown Ale.One might question the freshness of certain beers,but due to high volume sales and an intricate constant pressure tap system,there seems to be no problem.The food is outstanding and the portions are generous.The Yard House is a great way to sample California craft brew on a short visit. |

Went to "punkin chunkin" this weekend (read...an excuse to go to Dogfish Head).After the gourds stopped flying,the beers started flowing.The regular suspects were available:Shelter pale,Chickory stout and Raison D'etre.I started with a Baltic style porter(delicious!),then on to the Olde School Barleywine(a BIG tasty ale!)I waited until after dinner to try the World Wide Stout. This batch is coming in at an unbeliveable 23%abv!Even at that level,the flavor is fantastic.To create a beer of this strength,and still retain the great stout taste is an amazing feat!Sam is an "over the top" beer craftsman! |

Stopped by to see what Rob Davis is up to at Great Adirondack Brewing.I was pleasantly surprised to have lucked into TWO seasonal's.The first i tried was a big & chewy scotch ale that weighted in at about 8%abv.Good stuff!The next was a wonderful smoked porter--very smooth with a nice chocolatey flavor.Rob really hit it with this one!Can't wait to get back to the north country next year! |
