Great Good Good Lousy Good

Establishment: The Press Room, Portsmouth, NH

This is an old bar with old traditions. They are famous for their music in the open mic sense. Lots of Irish and Jazz music downstairs, local bands upstairs. They have a good selectrion of beer and are said to be the first in the area to carry Guiness on Tap. Food is ok and the service sucks. Be sure to order your second drink when you order your first.

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

Establishment: Blue Mermaid World Grill, Portsmouth, NH

This is a quaint little bar on the Hill in Portsmouth. They offer an upstairs dinning area and a lowerlevel bar. It's small. The bar can hold maybe 75 people, but if you can get in the food and the beer is great. They have all the local breweries on tap and a few of the more rare selections from the west coast. They have wonderful musical selections on the weekends and an interesting interior design. Very cozy...

Good Good Awesome! Great Great

Establishment: Benjamin's Restaurant Lounge, Durham, NH

A nice Durham community resaurant and bar with ample dinning room, but limited bar/smoking area. The resaurant is newly renovated from a kitchen fire that happened last year. The menu has a good diversity and the beer selection will cater to you and your parents (when they bring you back to school.) Watch closely, you may find your professors hanging out there.

Good variety of local brew and some select Vermont beers as well. They offer $1 pints on Sundays during the Football games.

Great Good So So So So Good

Establishment: Mike Libby's Bar and Grill, Durham, NH

"Emerging from the ashes of a devastating May 2000 fire, Libby's Bar & Grill is again donning the crown as the king of Durham nightlife, not an easy boast in this college town. Perhaps the key to owner Mike Libby's success, however, is making sure that this incarnation is more than just a study-break hangout. Libby's offers a bright, comfortable lounge and restaurant experience for virtually all ages, even when the University of New Hampshire is in session." - Seacoast Online

Libby's offers the standard selection of beers seen in most college towns, but they try to up their selection by offering seasonal Smutty Nose and Shipyard brews (local beer.)

Good So So Good Good So So

Establishment: Murphy's Tin Palace, Durham, NH

Located in the heart of UNH, the Tin Palace is a dark pub with no amazing qualities. They have 3 pool tables in the basement and live music on Friday and Saturday. It's a college bar. Period.

Murphy's actually holds the best selection of beers on tap for the Durham/UNH area. Their selection includes a variety of the local stuff and even a few specials from RedHook. There are good summer specials, but when the college students aren't around, don't expect too much in the way of seasonal variety.

Awesome! Great N/A Good Great

Establishment: Coat Of Arms, Portsmouth, NH

This is one of the few bars in the area that offer cask poured brews. A must try to experience some of the local brews (Portsmouth Brewery, Smuttynose, etc.) All Irish bar. They have pinball and darts. Nice atmosphere, but smokey.

Establishment: Three Needs Taproom, Burlington, VT

Come for DUFF HOUR! The Three Needs has "Duff Hour" starting every weekday @ 4pm and episodes of The Simpsons play at until 7pm!. A selected tap (Duff) is on sale for $1 a pint until the keg is empty. Great bar with good "home" brew and a wonderful VT selection of the other guys.

Great Great Great Good Great

Establishment: Fox and Hound English Pub and Grille, Erie , PA

Stuck in a mall lot, this bar is deciving from the outside. They have a great sports atmosphere with many different selections of bottled beers (I think drinking is all they do in Erie.) One room has a 200" projection TV and the bar is surrounded in TV's. Worth checking out if you happen to be in Erie.

Awesome! Awesome! N/A Awesome! Awesome!

Establishment: Mason's Barley Pub, Dover, NH

The best beer selection in the seacoast. All microbrews on tap (13 in all) and no Bud in sight! :) It's a cash only bar so bring your money. Great atmosphere with live music just about everynight. Darts, pool, Golden Tee and good beer; what more could you ask for?
