Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

Establishment: Zona Brewing Company was The Cowboy, Scottsdale, AZ

Hats off to Ryan and Collin Ashley:"Two of the most Unlikely Cowboys ever!".Please do not pass up the opportunity to try some of their world class beers if you are in the Phoenix area. The brewpub is fairly new(opened in Aug 2002),however, Ryan is a very accomplished brewer with multiple GABF and World Beer Cup medals to his credit. Some may have tasted them in Europe where he received his degree in brewing sciences or at his former place of employment (Mickey Finn's in the Chicago area)..I was fortunate to be able to try all of their beers recently on two separate occasions. Kolsh was light and crisp with a clean malt character. Hefe was out of this world. Bannanna, nutmeg, and clove evident in the nose and then just burst on the palate. Truely authentic german style wheat without the lemon! Pilsner was smooth and dry with a hint of noble hop bouquet. Amber has great mouth feel and body. Munich and caramel malts impart a sweet nutty character that is perfectly balanced by the cascade hops.Dopplebock was phenomenal. Belgian tripple was equally as good. The belgian candied sugar gives a nice sweet mellow mouthfeel and just a hint of alcohol and pineapple come through.Oatmeal Stout(nitro) was soft and creamy with rich flavor imparted by the chocolate and roast malts. The real kicker was out of the hundreds of brew pubs we have been to this is the first one my wife actually wanted to come back to!(Bonus!!) It is also quite evident that the attention to detail is carried over to the kitchen as well. Attention to detail is evident from the moment you walk into this place. Beer is taken very seriously here and sets the standard for craft brewers in the Arizona area.

Establishment: Oak Creek Brewing Company, Sedona, AZ

Wonderful brew pub with spectacular view of the mountains.Just so people do not get confused as I did: there are 2 seperate brew pubs and depending on who you talk to will determine where you end up. We went to both(Talaquepacque Village and on Yavapai Drive). The village offers the spectacular view and better dining. The brewery on Yavapai Drive is just that. Litterally, you sit in the brewery next to the mashing tanks. The beer here is the same but the menue is traditional German only.If your wife/girlfriend is with you better go to the Village location or you may be in the doghouse. Beers were all very true to style with traditional German influence from the head brewmaster and proprietor who lived and trained in Pottenstein Germany at the Hufeisen Brauerie. micro lite is exactly the way it sounds bland, tastless and virtually colorless bound to make even the most diehard coors light fan happy) or anyone else when the temperature hits 115 degrees!!). Forty-niner gold lager(a 2002 gold winner of the NABA) is crisp and balanced with a beautiful gold hue and a zesty noble hop bouquet. The Hefe was a great traditional unfiltered Bavarian style with plenty of bannanna and cloves. Doc's Pale Ale is an american pale bittered with centennial and cascade hops. Your run of the mill pale, nothing special but very drinkable.Amber ale was deep copper colored, medium bodied with a very mellow and nutty/caramel flavor. Nut brown, Pullman porter, and the seasonal Oatmeal stout were all very true to style and were the standouts. Rich chocolate, roast barley, and carmel/munich malt flavor and aroma were evident throughout.A must stop for any beer enthusiest who may find him/herself in Sedona.

Please read the reviews for Maine Coast Brewing since this is their pub and the brewery is housed in a little barn on the property.

A must stop for the true beer enthusiast who finds him/herself in maine. Hats off to Alan Pugsly, a man you have probably never met, but was probably influential in designing one or more of your favorite brew pubs. The beers are excellent, the tour is great and the gift shop/brewtique is extensive. Tours and tastings weekdays from 3pm, but will give samples of all beers anytime if you happen upon their brewery at an odd time. Easy walking distance from downtown, but better drive so you can cart away all of your brews.

Rather than add anything else I will just agree with Jim Hanlon, the previous reviewer since I think he has said it all. This was my second time in and the first was just as memorable. Great beers and food in the downtown South Portland area. Food is a little more upscale( lobster quesadillas, seared Ahi tuna, seafood fra diavalo etc, plus your favorite pub fare.

Establishment: Maine Coast Brewing was Jack Russell Brewpub, Bar Harbor, ME

Now Jack Russells Brewpub. Had the expresso stout (very overpowering coffee aroma and flavor...had to remind myself this was actually a beer),had the brown(rather bland and uninspiring),had the blueberry ale (a noticable medicinal aftertaste and a lot of diacytyl and butterscotch notes) Food was O.K. and waitstaff was terrible.Very difficult to get anyones attention, slow for refills. Actually saw a few people leave because service was so slow and they were not overly busy.

A showcase site for Shipyard Brewing Co.'s beers. All of their beers on tap and good pub food with a New England flare. Nice view overlooking the small harbor in Kennebunk.

This is a small microbrewery on the outskirts of town that is well worth a visit if in the area. Todd Foster is the brewmaster and owner and the only other employee is his wife. Tod's love of beer started while in college on the west coast and he soon became an avid homebrewer. His hobby seems to have gotten him somewhere between an avid hobbyist gone wild and a true "pico" brewer if I may coin a new term for a brewery that truely does not represent the typical microbrewery. Although he has no formal brewing experience out side of homebrewing his beers are outstanding true bottle conditioned ales that pour out a little bit of his heart and soul in every bottle. Both he and his wife brew , hand bottle, and hand label each and every 22oz. bottle that leave this brewery every year (only about 50,000 cases). To their credit they have won multiple World Beer Championship medals for all their beers. Cadillac Mtn. Stout 96 of 100 pts. Thunder Hole Ale 93 of 100 pts. Harbor Lighthouse Ale 92 of 100 pts Bar Harbor Peach Ale 92 of 100 pts.

Each beer well deserving of the medals. If you are a homebrewer or beer afficianado and find yourself in this neck of the woods please do not miss the opportunity to sample tod's beers they are truely wonderful and due to the brewery's size and manpower you may not soon have the chance again. It's like Acadia National Park has it's own little Traquair House in the woods!!

Establishment: Atlantic Brewing Company, Bar Harbor, ME

Had their beer at the Lampoc Cafe and "Brewpub"( not really a brew pub but just a pub that showcases ABC's beers. We sought out the actual brew pub the next day and had the Coal Porter,Blueberry ale, Real ale, Ginger ale. The porter was good and all others were just mediocre at best. However, they had a bottle conditioned Braggot Barley wine aged since Nov. 2000 that was outstanding!! Lots of port and sherry nuances with a big smoky warm mouthfeel. Did not try the food there so cannot comment.

Great Great N/A Lousy Lousy

Establishment: Allagash Brewing Company, Portland, ME

Their beer is wonderful and if you are in maine you should seek it out in the bottle conditioned 750ml bottles. Went to the brewery for the tour and tasting and was very disappointed (not at all by the beer). The office manager led the 5 minute "tour" and we were only allowed to sample on beer of our choice. Their beer is widely available throughout maine at better beer bars and usually as a guest beer at a lot of other brew pubs. Go to the brewery only if you cant find the bottle conditioned versions or else don't waste your time going there since it is located about 20 min from downtown.

Establishment: Weyerbacher Brewing Company, Easton, PA

Weyerbacher brewing company is doing great while expanding their beer line as well as distribution. If anyone was a past patron of their late pub you may want to check out a NEW beer spot only moments away. Kelly Jo the old beer mistress at the weyerbacher pub and Derek, the old wyerbacher chef, have made their new home at 665 Northampton St. The place is called Which Brew and is well worth the visit. 10 Drafts which feature Weyerbacher beers and a huge bottle selection in a comfy, cozy environment featuring a deck/beer garden for when the weather is nice.A lot of old faces and new faces can be seen at the new mug club in town.

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

Establishment: Which Brew, Easton, PA

Kelly Jo is doing a fantastic job with her new venture. The Weyerbacher pub influence abounds, but the new environment is distinctly of her own creation. The place has a great cozy relaxed feel with warm colors and some incredible woodwork.A true beer bar in every sense of the word.Excellent selection of beers from the local scene and the classics from around the world. The food is also great and the chef, Derek, is also of the late weyerbacher pub so bring on the Margarita Pizzas once again!!!Food is upscale brew pub and there are plans for a slightly more formal dining area in the near future. When the weather is nice enjoy a fine beer on the deck/beer garden and just watch the hops grow in the company of good friends. A must stop when in the area and a NEW stop if you are a faithful Pearly's and Porters patron. Move over guys their is a new mug club in town. Congrats to Kelly Jo,a great host and person, and all the weyerbacher orphans who now have a new and improved home.
