Great Great N/A N/A Great

Establishment: Sprecher Brewing Company, Incorporated, Glendale, WI

Well, well. . . Who would have thought such a terrific brewing was in the heart of Miller country? An entertaining tour guide led a fairly large group (30+ people) through the works in Glendale. He was knowledgeable and open to any and all questions. The one seasonal they didn't have on tap was the IPA, what a SHAME! What a SHAME I only bought 3 bottles on the way out. That's ok, I have a relative coming into NJ next week and I plan to place an order. The Black Bavarian is a terrific representation if the style and was the first beer produced by Mr. Sprecher. Now, I need to phone Mr. Sprecher and see if we can line up a distributor a little closer to NJ/NY than Ohio.

Great Awesome! N/A Great Great

Establishment: Ship Inn, Milford, NJ

I won't attempt to comment on the food at Ship's Inn because it’s been 2 or 3 years since I've eaten there. On the other hand, once in a full moon I fill up the ole' growler with what's brewing. Last week I brought home their Monster IPA. The hop flavor is not what I have become familiar with in the style of the IPA. My taste for the IPA has been founded on SN Celebration (still have 1996 in the basement), Tugboat (Portland brewpub not to be missed!), Hops Infusion (Weyerbacher Brewing Company), Anchor Liberty Ale, Sprecher Brewing IPA (Yum!). The Monster, possible mis-named, is a very civil IPA. More floral and less bitty than most of the above beers. The malt makes itself more known than the above, with the possible exception of Sprecher. Maybe this is a British version of the IPA as opposed to the American, a nice change. I'm re-doing my kitchen this week and will celebrate the completion by visiting Ship Inn. I will probably give their ESB another tasting. Wish I lived just a little closer to the Delaware.

So So Good So So So So So So

Establishment: Pizzeria Uno Chicago Grill and Brewery, Metuchen, NJ

Tasted two beers last evening, the 'Red' and the IPA. The Red was served too cold which definitely masked the taste. It was a fairly balanced yet light brew. Not to my taste but probably very drinkable for the novice brewpub visitor. The IPA style happens to be one of my favorite styles. The version served at PU was ordinary. It is hoppy but not memorable. I won't write about the food because it is typical PU and can be had throughout the states.
