Establishment:
Steamworks Brewing Company, Vancouver, BC
Reminded me of the Canadian version Gordon Biersch: way too fancy for it's own good. Good ales, though pricey and served a little too cold. Good food and interesting location...//TSB |

Establishment:
Concord Depot, Concord, CA
Hid away on one of downtown Concord's side-streets, the Depot is an excellent spot for some truely good ales on tap. Wandered in and immediately found almost a dozen different beers on tap that I've never seen anywhere else. Worth a stop if you're in the East Bay...//TSB |

Establishment:
Jupiter Brewery, Walnut Creek, CA
Definately my favorite of the three brewpubs in Walnut Creek. Waitress knew her the beers well, and wasn't shy about making sure we sampled each and every one of them before ordering from the (rather skimpy) menu. Beer-wise, the stand-outs were the Old Globe Brown and ESB, Europa Pils, and the Jupiter Pale Ale. Good selection of guest brews and ciders. Agree with J.Joe: eat at the Faultline, then wander 1.5 blocks to the Jupiter...//TSB |

Establishment:
Flying Pig Brewing Company, Everett, WA
Overall, a good place to check out if your in Downtown Everett. Good location, atmosphere, service -- beers were a little uneven, but generally well-made. The I.P.A. and rotating seasonals steal the show, tasting much better than the otherwise turgid selection. Worth a stop for a pint or two...//TSB |

Establishment:
Big Bear Mountain Brewery, Big Bear Lake, CA
A fairly new place, stuck up amongst the ski slopes of San Bernadino county. Very small (max. occupancy only 33!), but worth a stop after hitting the slopes (and maybe before, as well!). Very good Red Ale and Amber Lager, and very servicable Hefeweizen and Golden Ale on tap, as well as an eclectic mix of different bottled beers. Pub fare not overly hearty: the place doubles as a deli, and so only has a variety of sandwiches. Overall, though, this place has it's priorites straight: catering to a specific niche marketplace (in this case, thirsty skiers) with very good beer. Room for improvement, but a healthy start...//TSB |

Establishment:
Camelot Inn, San Marcos, CA
One of the oldest and most established of the dozen or so English pubs in San Diego county, the Camelot has over a dozen excellent U.K. beers on tap at any given time. Excellent servers (all U.K. expats) who know how to take care of their customers. Good place for darts-n-pints with the gang...//TSB |

Establishment:
Rock Bottom Brewery, San Diego, CA
Glad to see a Rock Bottom in downtown S.D. Parking can be a challenge (i.e. near the Gaslamp), so arrive early and and park on the street (the meters are free after 6pm). Once there, the Red is *outstanding*, as is the Stout and whatever they happen to have Hand-pumped...//TSB |

So they have pretty girls on all the labels: big deal! The beer inside the bottle is terrible. Maybe they only want to cater to the Beer Bottle Collectors of the World Club or something. If that's the case, dump out the contents straight down the drain...! //TSB |

Barney's Beanery, West Hollywood, CA
A surprisingly grungy, dive-y beer-bar right in the heart of Yuppy-Land (i.e. the "nice part" of Santa Monica Blvd.) Excellent beer and food, fairly priced. Reminds me of what would happen if the Goat Hill Tavern (Costa Mesa) decided to clean-up it's act a little and move to L.A. Check this place out, but leave the wive/kids at home...! //TSB |

A large place that (I assume) really picks up on Friday and Saturday nights. Liked the red ale, and, in fact, everything on tap was worthy of another round or two. Obscure location: hopefully they are able to keep in buisness long enough to establigh themselves in the area...//TSB |

I've been to worse places, but, then again, I've to a lot more better places than this. Purely pedistrian beers on tap, that, while may taste a little better with the pricey pizza's and such, on their own they were unimpressive....//TSB |

Establishment:
Gordon Biersch Brewing Company, San Francisco, CA
Overall, I think the G.Biersch is over-rated. They only brew four-five styles of good-but-not-great beer. And while the food is good, whatever happened to good ol' fashioned pubgrub? I guess I'll leave places like this to the yuppy-fied "suits", with their oh-so-sheik martini's and over-priced lager-wannabes...//TSB |

The "so-so" overall rating is being more-than-fair, in the light of the fact that it was still a brand new establishment when I checked it out. However, the beers were clearly extract, and, except for Pale Ale, bored me to tears. Unremarkable service staff at a very unremarkable place...//TSB |

Except for the food here (excellent Italian pasta and pizza), I can't think of any good reason for going out of your way for this place. The Lager, Pils, Amber, Dark, and Bock were all thin and limp...//TSB |
