This place is top notch. After spending an entire Saturday evening there I tried several of the offerings including a nitro stout, a nitro bock, an amber, a rye, a maple and the IPA. Great beers each good for their own style. After reading some of the earlier reviews of this place what no one has bothered to mention is they got a new Brewer about a year ago so any reviews before then about the beer don't count. The new Brewer just brought back a fist full of 1st and 2nd place medals from recent competition a few months ago.
I tasted several of the menu items including an appetizer which was pita bread with some seasoned goat cheese, the Pesto Pizza and a huge hamburger with a special olive dressing. everything I tasted was great with lots of BIG FLAVORS. As far as the service it too was top notch.
As I live in Holland and have the New Holland Brewing Company in my back yard, my measuring stick is pretty high, this place stacks up well. This place is a must stop for anyone even close to the area.
It is places like this that make the quest for finding the prefect pint of REAL BEER so enjoyable. |

We stopped in on a Tuesday around 6pm. The place is small and was nearly full. We found a seat and were greeted by our server who did not really seam to be with it. After taking our order she brought our beers. They were out of about half of their offerings. I had an IPA which was good and my mother in law had what was supposed to be an Amber (they were out of pale) which after I tried it tasted more like a Bavarian Wheat than any Amber. Maybe that is how it was supposed to be but I would not think so. I then had a Black which was not bad, however we had to ask the server for everything including several times of "where is our food" which we were told the kitchen is real busy. I only saw 1 other table eating, everyone else was just drinking.
Finally after over an hour of waiting for 2 small pizzas and 1 sub the pizzas arrived and no sub. The waitress than says she will be back. She comes back 5 minutes later and says the cook missed it on the ticket. 20 minutes later she finally brings the sub. No offer to comp the sub or drinks or anything, she just drops it off and says sorry. I ended up having to go up to the bar to ask for my check. We were there for about 1 hour and 45 minutes for what I would describe as good beer OK food and terrible service. I talked with some of the locals while we were there and I will say that every one there was very friendly. I have wanted to stop at this place for a few years and based on the reviews had high expectations. I would have to guess by the number of mug club mugs hanging from the ceiling that everybody in Marshal must be a member. This place appears like it must be better than my experience but I was deeply disappointedly and doubt I will ever stop in again. |

We stopped in on a Monday night and the place was almost empty. Very nice location, the interior has been restored to maintain the feel of the original Union Station.
I had their IPA which I thought was a little thin, hopped ok but not much malt to balance it out. The nut brown was good. Both my wife and I had the Union Station Plater which you would think carrying the name of the place would have been one of their specialties. Well the beef was full of grizzle and the gravy was nearly tasteless, the sausage was OK and the sauerkraut and corned beef were better than everything else. The server was very attentive which saved the evening from being a total disappointment.
All in all not a bad place but I was sort of disappointed as my expectations were high after reading the other reviews. |

My son brought 2 growlers of the IPA yesterday. Great taste and balance. Plenty of hops, not s beer for the NASCAR crowd. If the rest of their offerings are as good as this I am looking forward to stopping there to try the rest. |
