Establishment: Monte Carlo Pub and Brewery, Las Vegas, NV

BE ADVISED THAT LOUD MUSIC, SMOKING AND VERY DIM LIGHTING BEGIN BETWEEN 9PM AND 10PM! We were not informed of this and halfway through our meal the lights went down to blacklight. While beer may look cool under blacklight, it's hard to acurately judge. 10 minutes later the band started playing. Before this we waited in line for 20 minutes for a table for five, while there were at least six empty tables which would have suited us sitting empty. Beer selection consisted of the four standard brewpub ales plus a mediocre bock. Beer quality was ok but not outstanding. Food was more expensive than it was worth. Not very vegetarian friendly unless you like salad. The service was slow and unsympathetic to our complaints about not being notified about the lighting and noise. This place seems mis-managed to me. I get the feeling they're more interested in cashing-in on the brewpub concept than in making good beer and food. I won't go there again. If I was only interested seeing the band and casually drinking a beer I might have enjoyed it more.

I agree with the previous reviewer in that there was a disperity in the Ales vs. the lagers, but I think it was the ales that were better. It's nice to see a brewpub making lagers where so few dare to tread, unfortunately I found them to be medieocre. Pilsner had nice straw color and good clarity. DMS And diacetyl are both evident though low and in the background. Low hop aroma, low bitterness, pilsner malt flavor dominates. The Bock was better with dark red-brown color and good clarity. Strong malt and roast aromas dominate again with slight DMS and diacetyl. Flavor balanced toward sweet. Roast malt flavor evident, can't say there's any Munich malt in the Bock though. The Pale Ale was better golden color, good clarity low head retention but laced glass. American hop aroma dominates. No diacetyl this time but the DMS aroma persists. It must be caused by a brew system peculiarity or a slight infection. Dry mouthfeel and clean, refreshing finish. Better than average food. Cool alternative music playing while we were there. Service was nice, if average. Great lunch location for those traveling through the rockies on the interstate.

I must have lower expectations than the previous reviewers as I didn't think Estes Park Brewery was bad for a small town. At least there's a brewpub here. It's a large open room with a good view of the spacious brewhouse. IPA to had very strong dominating hoppy bitterness and aroma. Malt character backed it well, but the beer was a little too dark for the style - roasted malts? Red ale was best of the lot with good malt aroma, excellent red color and clarity and nice bitterness backed by strong malt character. Both beers had low foam retention but it could have been caused by glasses being less than beer clean. Was surprised to find Barley Wine. It had nice flavor and high hop bitterness almost remeniscent of DogFish 120m IPA. The staff was very friendly and conversational, if somewhat informal which was nice at this establishment.

Relatively large brewpub in a revitalized downtown historic district. There were nine beers on tap including a cask selection. The ESB was the best with a good malt aroma and flavor balanced by nice hop character. There was also a 90 Scotch Ale which had a nice malt character slightly estery and great rocky head. Food was better than average with some good vegetarian selections. Roasted veggie ravioli was excellent). The service was quick and experienced. It was nice to see beer selection, like the ESB and Scotch Ale, beyond the normal brewpub assortment.
