Great Great N/A Good Great

Establishment: Orlando Brewing Partners, Orlando, FL

This is a minimalist tap room situated in a pretty grimy looking, light industrial neighborhood. No frills at all, just a bar and some tables next to the wall. Service was a bit confusing as there were at first a number of middle-aged guys in white shirts drawing the beer, but later a number of 20-something girls seemed to appear out of nowhere to tend the bar. I was never quite sure of who was keeping the tab straight. The beers I tried were very good. The Olde Pelican is a hoppy, great tasting ale while the Oktoberfest is crisp and flavorful. In keeping to its beer tasting room ambiance, no food is served nor did it appear any snacks were available. Happy hour is between 3PM and 6PM with pints going for $1.00 off. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Orlando, although you would need a car to get there.

Great Great N/A Good Great

Establishment: Great Basin Brewing Company, Sparks, NV

Thank goodness this great brewery was just a few blocks from my hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed the brews I tried, especially the Chilibeso jalapeno beer. It is a LOT better than it sounds. Crisp beer with a nice zing at the end. The "Icky" was very good and true to IPA form. Anyone visiting Reno should stop by. A great place to drink and eat.

Awesome! Great Good Great Great

Establishment: Thunder Canyon Brewery, Tucson, AZ

TCB is a regular hang out for me, so I am a bit biased. It has been pulling me back for the past 7 years or so. I was hooked on their seasonal Prescription Pils at first, but Grantly, perhaps one of the best barkeeps around, introduced me to the Thunderhead IPA and it was awsome! I am now a regular at this place and there are really no gegatives. The food is good, but not excellent. THey introduce new items fairly frequently and any of the smoked BBQ entrees are excellent. If it is Happy Hour, I suggest the smoked salmon platter to accompany an IPA or two or three. I think anyone who enjoys quality, handcrafted beer would find this venue one of the best. Thank goodness it is in my own backyard!

Awesome! Awesome! N/A Great Awesome!

Establishment: Silver Peak Restaurant and Brewery, Reno, NV

Since Wednesdays are my "Beer Nights" at Thunder Canyon Brewery in Tucson, I thought I would continue my little tradition and check out Silver Peak while on a trip to Reno. I was not disappointed! The Red Roadster was superb and the Schell Pilsner was excellent. The atmosphere is nice for happy hour as it is outside on a veranda with views of the surrounding mountains and a nice cooling breeze. Service was prompt and professional. This is certainly on par with my usual digs and, if I ever make it back to Reno, it will be one of my first stops.
