I concur with the other July reviews, below. We were passing through a couple of weeks ago and stopped for lunch (family) and beer (me). I had their sampler. The cherry lambic and mai bock were gone but the porter was outstanding. Had a nice chat with the brewer and the owner - very friendly and upbeat. Keep it up!
Passing through a couple of weeks ago: the beer should have been flushed. The stout was on a nitro tap nipple, but wasn't pushed with nitrogen, just CO2. It had no stout character except color, was heavily citrusy (grapefruit) and tasted more like a fair pale ale. (I sampled the pale, later, and frankly couldn't tell the difference). The nut brown was sour! The bartender checked that the kegs were relatively fresh, so the problem must be with the brews themselves. I hope the bartender passed my comments on to the brewer, though reading the earlier reviews below I don't see much changing.
Stopped by for just a few minutes while travelling across country, last month. They were recuperating from a brewing problem, so didn't have many of their own brews on tap - I'm sure they've recovered by now. Nevertheless, the beers they had were great and they had supplemented with "guest brews" to keep a super selection up. The bartender was friendly, knowledgeable - a joy to converse with.
Our waitress was nice, but seating and service throughout were very slow. I had their 5-beer sampler. The pilsner quite buttery, although tastier than a Bud. Pale was nicely balanced, but with a LOT of grapefruit tang. Raspberry was very sweet from start to lingering finish. Fruity amberbock. Nut brown was their best in my opinion: coffee and a slight roasted flavor, smooth feel.
Stopped by early in the day on the way east to the Tetons -- too early for sampling, but not too early to have a very nice tour of the brewery area. Very friendly folk!
Visited while traveling across the country, last month, and was glad we did. Even though I'm a dark beer lover, their stong blonde was outstanding. Their boysenberry ale is based on their pale ale, not wheat. It was very nice - not the sticky sweet things I've had in the Northeast.
Visited while traveling the country. Since it is attached to a hotel, I wasn't expecting much; but i found their beers very tasty with their stout and amber good examples of the styles. We were given a taste of their 9.5 scotch ale that was just being tapped - very smooth and pleasing.
I messed up my driving schedule through the state, so I arrived at the brewery too early for tasting; but I was given a nice tour of their facilities as they were preparing for a bewing session. Looks like they'll be moving to a larger place to the north before too long - hope they update their address, here.
Passing through in the middle of the day, I found the staff very friendly and restaurant clean and pleasant. Their Roughneck Red was very tasty and thirst quenching. The kids enjoyed the root beer, too.
Just passing through Omaha and stopped to taste. Very nice beers: a terrific stout, smooth and roasted just the way I like it; a buttery Belgian seasonal; the wheat was very light and non-descript, but I suspect they use it to introduce Bud-drinkers to better beers. Ended up taking a growler of their pale ale on the road with us! Very friendly staff and patrons. I was given a nice tour of the brewing facilities - ingeniously arranged to fit their available spaces. I'll stop again next time through town.
Being thirsty on my way from St Louis to Des Moines, a quick PubCrawler check showed up the Lost Duck along my route. The beer was good and my wife and son though the root beer was excellent. The pub is easy to find and has a terrific view of the river and the rebuilt old fort. Definitely worth the stop.
Had a very nice tour of the brewery, then sampled several of their styles. All were quite nice, but I could tell why their pale ale is their best seller. I wish I could have stayed in town longer ...
The best Scotch Ale I've tasted! The brewer saved and aged a few kegs of this 10.5 abv: very smooth. The 10W-30 stout was rich and creamy with a nice balance of flavors. Terrific examples of Abbey and Trippel styles, and a nice range from a crisp pale, to IPA and a double IPA. The place was hopping both nights I visited.
Outstanding "Walker's Reserve" porter, very smooth and easy to drink; however a bit overpriced at $5/22oz bottle to take one home with you. The on-site draft price is more standard. Double Barrel Ale is a fairly standard red ale, but tasty. Tap room is small, cozy; a nice place to stop for a rest and a brew after touring. Very close to touristy areas like Solvang.
Tried a seasonal Porter: quite good. The stout was excellent. Both on nitro tap for smooth, creamy texture and good heads. Very friendly atmosphere and service.
