What a shame. This place could be so much better. The beer selection is very lame considering the size of the establishment. I went after an M's game and it was fairly crowded but not enough that the service should be poor. It's too bad Elysian isn't across from Safeco Field.
Visited the one in Nob Hill this time. Great location in an old turn-of-the-century home. Sat upstairs in the "play room." My 3-year-old had fun while I quaffed the best beer in Portland. To take a quote from the establishment, "I got trampled by the Green Elephant." It simply rocked. I'll be moving to the NW next year so that I can frequent this establishment. Now that they have 2 locations I have 2 favorite places. Only 1 block from the streetcar stop on NW 23rd. If only the service had been better it would have made for a perfect visit.
I visited again late July. Really considering moving to Bellingham. Only problem is that if I did I'd be here all the time and my wife and kids would disown me. The beer continues to be among the best anywhere year after year. A must stop when within 100 miles of Bellingham.
Visited back in 1994, was not impressed. Thought I'd try again 11 years later. Still no impressed. Perhaps 2016? Beer is weak and service (at the bar, no less) is sad.
How could anyone say that the beer selection here is lousy? Fine alehouses do not provide non-alcoholic beer. If you are going to darken the door of an alehouse you have to expect beverage w/alcohol content.
Excellent beer at an excellent establishment. This is a great place to go watch a game and hang out with friends. The crowd is lively, mostly ASU students. I would recommend every beer, except...the Peach Ale. It's super sweet, not what I'm looking for in a beer - even a fruit beer. All the others have excellent body and flavor. You should definitely visit if you are in the area.
Visited while in Tempe for Spring Training. I stopped into the pub on Mill Street for a couple of pints. The beer was OK, but the selection was pretty poor, only 4 available. Plus, the service was pretty poor. Next time I'll go th their microbrewery location. Perhaps it's better there.
Wanted to visit whilst in Portland due to their success at the World Beer Cup. Great location just 2 blocks from Hollywood MAX station. Superb selection of beers - who could ask for anything more. I had the taster set (6 oz. each!) This was the first place where I can truly say that I would have ordered a pint of everything if I could have. Everything had great body and flavor. I have a new favorite place. Next time I'll visit their other location in NW Portland. You must visit Laurelwood!
Visited this place for lunch one day; went in when it first opened. Consequently, the placewas dead. This was a good thing as the owner/brewer gave us a tour and talked about his philosophy on brewing. The beer was good; I would like to go back in several months. I believe the beer would improve as the brewer was working hard to brew quality ale. Particularly good was the Motorman Mild. Worth a stop if in the south bay.
I have to strongly disagree with the previous entry. Having grown up in Mt. Vernon and having visited 50+ brewpubs on the west coast alone, I can honestly say that Skagit River Brewing is NOT even the best brewpub in Skagit/Whatcom counties let alone the entire coast. It's a great place if you like a train rumbling by causing you to spill your beer. Other than that the atmosphere is OK. Unless the beer has drastically changed in the past couple of years (I suppose it's possible), there are much better places for a pint (read: Boundary Bay & Orchard Street in Bellingham).
Only brewpub in P.S. area was better than I expected. I'm not a fan of blonde beers, but this one was OK. The brown was more like a porter, but was drinkable. The pale ale was a bit disappointing. The best was the rye beer. While it doesn't look appetizing, it is surprisingly good.
You would never know that a former warehouse would hold such promise. Hands down this is one of the finest establishments of its kind in the the NW if not the USA. The atmosphere is excellent, not pretentious or stuffy at all. The brewers and the clientele know their stuff. And their beer, well to anyone that's been there knows that their beer is unparalleled. The Best Bitter is the elixir of the Gods. If I could drink only one beer for the rest of my life it would be this beer. All the others are worth returning to Bellingham every year from SoCal as well. It's a shame this place wasn't open when I was a student at Western Wash. Univ. Makes me wish I still lived in the NW.

This place should be avoided. This is sad with the minor league park within walking distance. The beer has no imagination, no flavor, no body. Go to Main Street in Corona instead (avoid Mt. Baldy, though)
For me it's sad when the best beer they have is a blonde. Both the IPA and Pale Ale were watered down, but they had a decent barleywine. Unfortunately the atmosphere is even worse than when I went 6 years ago. They used to have a nice patio. Now they've closed it off for a smoking room. Non-smokers are stuck in the bar area with few tables. Not very classy
