On a "beer vacation" to S.F. and northern California in late June 2009, I went to 8 breweries/brewpubs. BEAR REPUBLIC was DEFINITLEY the best !! This one was a close second...
I asked for the beer sampler, (assuming it was 6-8 of thier most popular beers) and about fell on the floor when the server brought out 22 samples !!!! (and it was only $12 !!!)
The "famous" pizza was not that great... But the BEER was VERY GOOD. GREAT selection too. Don't miss this place. (but make sure you go to Bear Repubic too !!)

IT is TOTALLY worth it ! The atmosphere of the place is great (inside and out), the beer is AWESOME (get the sampler), and the service was great !! DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE !! Wish I lived down the street...
If you are in S.F. for a visit to breweries/brew pubs, SKIP THIS ONE !! The beer is warm, not too good, and VERY EXPENSIVE!! The food was BAD. The service was WORSE... the bartender was the server at the tables and was too busy trying to get a date with a guy at the bar to help us. Otherwise I probably would have had another beer !!
Go to the Rouge Public House, and the Anchor Steam breweries instead.
Visited here in late June 2009, they had just recently changed over all of their logos, and names of beers after merging with UBV(?) Missed the "garage sale" by a few weeks... :-(
Beers were FRESH and GREAT ! The brewery in the back is HUGE !!
Appetizers are GOOD. Beer is just O.K. Entrees SUCK ! The pumpkin beer they had on tap and the Belgian Red when I was there were the best. Worth a stop to try the beers and have some appetizers. Especially from 3 - 7 pm !! ($3 beers, $4 appetizers) But DON'T eat DINNER there !!
The BEER is GREAT !! But the "tap room" completely SUCKS as a RESTURANT !! GO TO THE SCHLAFLY BOTTLEWORKS INSTEAD !! The food at the tap room is greatly overpriced, and is crappy... the service sucks, and they are pretty much in the middle of NOwhere (even though they are "downtown"). Not convient to anything... (in the middle of a bunch of warehouses) The Bottleworks however is AWESOME !! They have TOTALLY different (and much much better) food CHOICES !! Like I said don't get me wrong, I LOVE this brewery !! The beer is GREAT, the "taproom" just sucks... go to the "bottleworks" instead !!
