Great Awesome! Awesome! Great Awesome!

Establishment: Warrenside Tavern, Bloomsbury, NJ

If you ever find yourself near what used to be the 76 Truck Stop at Exit 7 off of I-78 in Northwestern Jersey, stop by the Warrenside. The entire establishment is a living history of the highway culture that sprung up an hours drive outside of major cities like NY following the advent of the automobile. The beer is cold, variegated and plentiful, the service is prompt, friendly and generally easy on the eyes, and the food is superb. Best Lobster Bisque I've ever had. Highly recommended.

So So Lousy Good So So So So

Establishment: Montgomery Brewing Company, Montgomery, AL

Being a displaced Yankee in the Heart of Dixie is bad enough, but when the only brew pub within 100 miles serves substandard ales and lager, that's just unsufferable. The light lager was served warm, and had the uncanny taste of coors light, the red pale ale tasted like someone left a penny in the fermentation tank, and the stout tasted like guinness if it had been mixed with a cup of week old Sanka. Not a redeeming brew on tap. The food was decent, but the cover band was unnecessarily loud and far too country for my taste. For a burger, it's better than Sonic, but for anything else, just drive Northeast until you hit Atlanta.
