Went here due to the Awesome! rating and I agree totally. The IPA had wonderful flavor and the most head-filling, lingering finish I can remember. I tried five other Phoneix brewpubs, several were good but this blows them all away. The Kobe burger lives up to it's rep and my companions were very happy with their sandwiches as well. Waitress was hilarious, took some ribbing and gave it back. We were one of only two tables outside mid-afternoon but she checked back several times.
Tried this and several others during a week in Phoenix. Varied, elegant, delicious and delightful food, more upscale than most brewpubs but not more expensive. Even the pizza styles were exotic and the best crust I've had in years. I sampled everything our party of 3 had and there wasn't a weak sister in the lot. Wish I could say the same about the beer, it seems brewed to tourists' tastes more than afficionados'. Doc's IPA has a nice but short-lived floral finish. The hefeweizen barely hinted at banana-clove-citrus flavors. The Porter was the best of the sampler, quite opaque and smoky with prominent coffee-chocolate flavor that lingered.
I travel for work, go to brewpubs both for the beer and in search of eclectic menus, Titanic nails both. IPA much less hoppy than my favorite Bell's but great floral finish. Others on Porthole Sampler similarly understated but good, my taste runs to more robust. Huge & varied menu, tried several food items, all were great and reasonably priced for a big city. Portions too big to finish. Friendly down-home college ambiance.
